Alright Mr. Stansbury, you're on the clock.

Sigh. Fauci doesn’t tell anyone what to do he gives his opinion and advice. Other people, politicians and executives make decisions.

I would agree with your sentiment about fauci if he was willing to keep a low and humble profile. the fact that he hunts for any camera or leftist sycophant in the media to preen his 'brilliance' before us removes any hint of trustworthiness in my eyes

Señor Cabrera? State of Georgia?

You would have to think ADs are desperate for butts in the seats so I'm reading tStan's conditional language to suggest there are others involved in the decision process.
Interesting punctuation.

State of GA let Braves and United go full capacity but plans to single us out? I don't think so.

Also, I appreciate that you think a lot of ADs have "butts in seats" as top priority, but I think you might find that a lot of us butts got the strong impression lately that we are not the top priority. I'm not singling out the AD either, and not singling out GT. But they could have resisted the trend. Some leaders did resist the trend, and chose to avoid controversy.

We’re a unit of the University System of Georgia, so presumably the state/Board of Regents has a little more sway over our operations than the Braves or the United. What’s the situation at other state schools like U[sic]GA, KSU, or GSU (both of them) - that’s more relevant data.

It seems ridiculous that the Board of Regents has power over the Athletic Associations.

What are they going to do if we simply sell all the tickets and fill up the stadium? Do they have an army to blockade the gates?

I do have to point out that Georgia State announced yesterday that they are removing all capacity restrictions for fall football. Now that still allows them to social distance since they only sell 14 season tickets but the announcement did "subtract" the Board of Regents from the conversation.

And I cannot accept Georgia State's announcement as "unconditional". If the BoR/State/whatever clamps down again then they will have to go back on the announcement. Maybe tStan is smart enough to allow for that contingency in advance.

I'm going to say again, leaders lead. He needed to announce shortly after the Braves and United announced. That timing would make it much harder for some nannycompoop to state that GT can't do that. The obvious question would be "why"?

He probably figured UGA is going to lead. I don't think we have to be joined at the hip with those cretins or under their skirt either. We are the top school not them. And we even have more students now not that it matters.

You think he hunts for cameras? Everyone news outlet, commentator, vlogger or whatever is after him. He’s answering questions like he’s supposed to do.

I would think City of Atlanta and the mayor probably have significant influence.

Fauchi absolutely hunts for cameras. If you think thats his job I disagree. His job should be to inform the politicians behind the scenes and then let them make decisions, not undermine them by taking his shockingly wrong opinions to the public and presenting them as facts. There is no ööööing way that ööööhead's job was to savage Kemp and DeSantis with his boneheaded fearmongering when those governors wisely and correctly opened back up.

Well I am starting to warm up to Crew's argument that we missed an opportunity to hold a decisive press conference with a fist pump and forceful announcement that "come this fall, Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field with honorary mention of Sir Charles will be at FULL CAPACITY this fall."

Rather than the meek "maybe, perhaps, let's see" kind of announcement.

Is Mercedes Benz stadium not in the City of Atlanta?

Have the Falcons said they will be at full capacity? Does the mayor treat the Falcons the same at Georgia Tech? I honestly don't know the answer to those questions; but I would be more concerned about what the city of Atlanta policy is going to be than the State of Georgia's.

they don't want to show their cards yet. that's my theory. which to me sounds like a bait and switch. we will be vague about fall, but go ahead and renew anyway and trust us to make the best decision for you. and i would be less cynical about it if they had handled the spring game with more common sense.

the only thing i have to lose for not renewing by deadline is seat location .. if i don't renew but then buy back in at different location in say late August, then I assume i wouldn't lose my consecutive years credit. Though they did threaten that in the email i got last week, quoting:

Our records indicate you have not secured your renewal, and all seats not secured are in jeopardy of being dropped from accounts after that date along with the benefits associated with your season ticket membership. Benefits such as:
  • Your seat location
  • Season ticket consecutive year priority points
  • Guaranteed access to Mayhem at Mercedes-Benz Stadium
  • Guaranteed access to Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate (UGA)

Atlanta United plays in MB. They announced already.

If the season were starting soon, I think it would be full capacity. They are waiting to announce that officially for fall as a hedge against the unlikely scenario of a fall covid resurgence.
