And succeeding JoePa is ...

Of course he is...its not gonna happen though

They are going to have to hire a guy ABOVE reproach, without any real regard to their overall record as a head coach. They kind of need high-integrity guy that is not hung up on winning right now.....This is gonna be tough.

Bill Curry?

Perhaps 10 years ago.

Hurricane fans down here are speculating that Al Golden is a potential candidate. His PSU connections are strong (former TE under Paterno), he's a relentless recruiter, brought back Temple from the abyss and runs a disciplined ship. Also when Randy Shannon was hired @ Miami a few years back Gregg Schiano was rumored to have turned down the U because his dream job was PSU. Guess we'll wait and see.

That's what I thought initially but now I'm thinking they'll probably try for someone with NO ties to Paterno.

First you have to find somebody who wants the job. PSU (the 'P' stands for 'Pedophile') hasn't shown the ability to pay a huge salary for a coach; but that doesn't mean they can't. The person also has to want to live in and recruit to the boondocks, that will include hiring staff that wants to live there. I know it will be a Big 10 job; but it is not like Michigan or Ohio State.

PSU needs to hire a coach who fails and lowers expectations so they will eventually be happy with the next coach winning a conference title once every 10-15 years (like they do now).

would George OLeary get a second look?

would Spurrier have any desire to move north?

maybe a guy from one of the service academies would be a good option for them right now... at least they could pass inspection

Just wonder if O'Leary's baggage would disqualify him.

Academy guys would likely bring an option offense. Would "never" work in the Big Integer.

would George OLeary get a second look?

Absolutely not. UCF just this week got hit with NCAA infractions and O'Leary has that kids death hanging over him.

He won't get a shot either. Too old, and too ornery. They're going to have to hire someone who can woo the press.

Doubt Penn wants to run the option.

Both of those are too old and not squeaky clean.

They should go for one of the Bowdens not named Bobby, or maybe Skip Holtz. I don't think their fan base would support them hiring a minority; otherwise that might be a good direction to go.
