I think Penn St may have a legit shot at Peterson...but he is proving to be nearly impossible to pry out of Idaho.

Mack Brown would be taking an obvious step down to go the PSU even under good circumstances.

Urban Meyer would be taking a step down to go from Florida to PSU.

Petersen would be taking a step down, or at least a lateral move.

Under ideal circumstances PSU is one of the top 25 coaching gigs in the country; but not one of the top 10 or 15. Trying to recruit to "Happy Valley" is going to be tough now that the Joe Paterno legacy is shattered. Heck, Mark Richt would be taking a step down to go there. The guy from Northwestern might be a good choice if he wants the challenge.
