When was this ? Around 1966>1968 ? Looks like Duke or maybe Rice is the opponent? The stars on the helmet was just a one year thing? Thanks for sharing miss the sixties era.

Damn, what the hell is with the stars? Was that some sort of 404 magic where we were pretending to be the Dallas cowboys or something?
Stars were rewards....

Ironically, Cowboys GM (IIRC Owner was Clint Murchison) Tex Schramm openly admitted copying GT's unis modified to silver & blue after their initial blue & white unis.

Could it be Duke 1965? Internet says we won 35-23, 35-16 on display here with the opponent driving. Right era for the helmets. I think an earlier photo posted here had a Duke uniform from that time with the stripes on the sleeves

Pretty good group of DBs the #3x could be (throw out Jeff Davis).... probably #35 Bill Eastman (later would become a dentist).... trying to drag the Dookie out of bounds.

Don't know who the guy on the phone was...... possibly a spotter to the scoreboard operator on where the ball was spotted..... but it damned sure wasn't a coach under Coach Dodd dressed like that.

When did the the “GT” first appear on the helmet? 1967?
1967.... hard to find a picture from that year, but the helmet used carried over to 1968. The GT appeared on both sleeves of this '68 only uni.

... and for those wondering who's who...... #67 Mike Bradley, #44 John Weaver, Student Trainer Bo Burke, #79 Bob Seamon, #10 Larry Good, #55 Billy Kidd, #89 Joel Stevenson and #21 John Sias..... from the opener vs TCU

I think that was the first Tech game I ever attended (was in 8th grade). Sias had a 80 something yard td catch that game.

Bill Eastman & Sammy Burke returned back to back punts for TDs in the first game I attended vs Navy.

The scoreboard says Tech 35, Duke 16, with 1:25 left in the 4th Quarter, and ball on the 41. Neat to see the horseshoe stands full.
