Any chance Duke does us a favor this weekend and gets the big time upset?

They lost 14-3 last year at Blacksburg. VPI is coming off a big emotional game at night to a noon kickoff in the small environment of Dookie.

Personally I think there's no way. VPI seems to have a much better O this year than last year and Duke seems to have regressed from last year (at least early on) with losses to Richmond and getting blasted by Kansas.

It would be nice personally for the Jackets ACC chances but a huge hit to the ACC perceived strength.

HUUUUUUUGGEE

Also, the game VPI drops is the one where Tyrod decides to take a mental vacation. Where that comes, none can know.

If Tech takes care of business by beating VT and and winning out they won't need help from Duke. I ceratinly wouldn't depend on a bunch of Dukie Heads for any help.

We still need help with Miami. They only have two games they could conceivably lose: @UNC and Clemson.

Considering VT had like 5 turnovers in last year's game and Duke STILL couldn't help us reach the ACCCG, I say no. Though, as those mouth-breathing butt-sniffers on the AJC blogs like to say "even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while".

Don't forget Oklahoma. We get in a 3 way tie with VPI and them, OOC record matters as well.

I know, after that murderers row to start the season their schedule looks pretty easy here on out. Other than the two you mentioned.

Although I think Clemson will beat Miami. Just my gut feeling.

No it doesn't, Our record vs. Atlantic teams will.

Doesn't matter though, if we win out and Miami wins out they win b/c of head-to-head.

The only way I can see a three way tie happening at this point is if each team is 6-2.

If we win out, Miami wins out and VPI wins out after us that would be a three way tie with all three teams having 1 loss. I could see that happening.

I don't want Duke to win, because we need Duke to beat Miami. At this point, we still control our own destiny regarding VPI. If we beat VPI, and us, the U and the hokies all finish with 1 ACC loss, then that's a three-way tie that will come down to poll position. At this point, I don't know who'd be higher, us or Miami. You can make SoS arguments all you want, but it will come down to the fickle whims of the voters.

If Tech wants to win the ACC, they'll need to win out, and most likely get some help from someone else beating Miami. I think Miami may lose another game, because they obviously have some let down in focus. At this point, I'd say Clem and UNC have the best chance of beating them.

If we win out, VT has 2 losses and we have one. We get the tiebreaker. Then its our SOS vs that of Miami, right?

IF Miami, VPI and us all finish with 1 ACC loss, and that loss is to each other, then the tie breaker will be BCS position, which is a fickle, unpredicatble beast.

If all three finish with two conference losses, with one loss coming to each other, then it will first come to record against coastal opponents, then BCS.

A one loss GT vs. a one loss Miami in the minds of the voters and the CPUs of the computers is a toss up. Miami's early schedule is brutal, up there with any team in the country. The back end, not so much. Our schedule has a bit of a lull in the back end, but a win against a ranked UGA would be a marquee, prime-time victory that could push us past Miami. Miami's best opponents will be us, VPI and OU. I don't think OU will finish with less than 2 losses, and may slide down the rankings. I don't see them beating Miami or Texas.

Caring about the ACC's perceived strength is pointless. All that matters is an ACC Championship and an Orange Bowl win. If that means Duke beats the ACC's "marque team" then so be it.

I recently tried to reason with myself that we almost beat VT last year, so we can do it again this year...

I just really hope Miami was having a horrible night that night, because VPI looked stout... I think we'll get it done, but I'm not going to make any calls on it just yet.

VT losing to anyone besides us would be a disaster for our ACC Championship chances. We need them to be 7-1 along with us and Miami; if it's just us and Miami at 7-1, then we lose the tiebreaker and they go to Tampa.

Screw VT, we need Miami to lose.

Is there any chance of Megan Fox walking into my house and my wife letting me have sex with her?
