Anyone hear the Bobby Johnson rumor?

without going through all the threads, I was wondering if anyone else heard this one? I think Marrone or Muschamp would be good fits.

The truth is Muschamp would/will likely be an excellent head coach. He would bring an SEc mentaility and would recuit quite well. He and Giff Smith would do well here and our defense would play like the Black Watch.

That being said, GT could not hate UGA anymore. the guy loves UGA. He is an old school Ugagger. Perhaps it would turn the GT/UGAG rivaly into more of an AUB/Ugag game and maybe that would be a good thing. We need to respect the rivalry and love to compete but not let it define us.

Muschamp would go OKState on the local media IMO. that would be fun to watch.

right now, I would consider the move. two weeks ago, I would have strongly opposed it. Unfortunately, the last two years Ugag have made his defenses look poor which is a little scary.

He was the defensive corrdinator at LSU when jimbo was there. Can we hire both of them? One can be HC and the other assistant HC.

A UGAger can not head coach at Tech. It just won't work. If you think Gailey caused division after his first UGAg loss, just imagine how divisive it would be to have a UGAger. There would be a dozen Buzzoffs from the get go. I want no part of the cluster that would be. DRad must know that would be a time bomb.

The new guy needs to be energetic, upbeat and innovative and a recruiter.

I would hope that Tech fans are more mature than this. Dooley played at Auburn and Pat Dye played at uga. It happens...

Anyone here remember how hot some of us were for Mac McWhorter to get the HC job after the Seattle Bowl? Mac is a UGA grad but did a hell of a job for us and is obviously doing well at TUX.

thwg, this post is GARBAGE!!!

I don't ever want to see Doug Marrone around here. That guy has no integrity whatsoever.

I don't really care who dRad hires. The fact that dRad has enough sense to let Gailey go (as opposed to Dave Brainless) tells me that he understands things well enough to know what we need and what we don't need. What we don't need is more Gailey. Rad gets it. Therefore I suspect he also "gets" what we need more of.

If Rad has the nads to punt Gailey with 4 years left on his contract, he has earned a measure of respect from me which also affords him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm just going to sit back, acknowledge that I have no control over this, stop wringing my hands, relax and let things unfold.

I just can't, in my wildest dreams, imagine that whatever Rad decides to do will produce a result less desireable than the results we are getting right now.

And I'm not worried about recruiting. So what if Chan isn't here. Its not like we are going to hire some schmuck who can't hit the road and reclose these guys and/or maybe some new ones. Its not like he has a tough act to follow.

Here, I'll even help. "Young man, how would you like to be known as the player who ended the drought against Georgia and helped Tech play in its first BCS game?"

Not hard, folks, not hard at all.

Given the combination of how healthy and solid our program is and how little it would take to show improvement over past results, there has NEVER been a better time to take over the reigns at Georgia Tech.

Any coach would be lucky to have this job. Damn lucky.

Friend, let me tell you a true GT fan will always hate UGAG, your statement frightens me

One thing about coaches. They could care less where they graduated from. Their allegiance is their ego. MR is from Miami. Did he go back? No Bowden wanted Alabama. Did he go back? No It goes on and on. I want the best man period. I don't care if he graduated from Timbucktoo.

I agree with you but I do not think Will Muschamp is the best man for the job. There are far better candidates out there then him. I would rather see JT get the job over Muschamp.

Burdell, I like your enthusiasm, but please remember that we are coming off probation and the effect will last about three more years.

Additionally, our schedules coming up are extremely difficult.

We did have a nice class last year but as of right now, we have very few young linemen.

It's not going to be an easy job for the next couple of seasons, a fact that suggests to me that they keep Gailey.
