Anyone looked at the Hot Seat rating lately?

Butch Jones, Gus Malzahn, Merk Richt, Bret Bielema, Kevin Sumlin, Mark Helfich, Frank Beamer, and just hired Mike Riley all in the top 25! I know some are expected, but what have you done for me lately? Pretty impressive fraternity!

No chance that Beamer ever gets outright fired. They may ask for his resignation/retirement behind closed doors but regardless of how you feel about him Beamer is VPI.

Unless there's some sort of trouble under the surface, I don't really understand why Monken is on that list, he's in the middle of his second season.

The answer to your question lies in the method used to pick these people in their current order.

Which is what? I'm not familiar with the site.

Also, while having Purdue HC Hazell at #1 is the right call, the #2 slot should be reserved for whoever his replacement will be.

“Whatever’s good for Virginia Tech, whatever’s best for Virginia Tech, is what I’m into,” Beamer said. “I’ve always felt that way, and I always will.”

Beamer did not elaborate on what he felt was best for Virginia Tech at this time.

Beamer is gone after this year. The writing is on the wall and he knows it.

They're gonna miss a bowl this year, recruiting is down, and they really don't have a reason to expect to return to prominence under the current administration. In fact, they have pretty much completed their slide into mediocrity at this point. Not much prestige is left from the Beamer Ball era.

I can understand some, but could they really get anyone better? The Oregon coach went to the CG, CMR is averaging 10 wins a year, Auburn had two great back to back seasons, Riley just got hired, VT will go back to VPI, and who could win at WV? There are not many Sabans or Urbans out there.

I like how all of our remaining games have coaches in the top 15. (Miami included because they already fired theirs)

Welcome to college football.

I took a look at this a couple of weeks ago. CPJ was around # 25 at that point, but moved to "edge of hot seat" and almost all the way to "safe" with the FSU win.

Pretty lazy analysis, really. They got Sumlin on there just for losing two in a row to ranked teams?

From the hot seat to the Dodd Coach of the Week award. Next, it's on to a Nobel prize.

The methodology appears to be an arbitrary listing of coaches in whatever order the site author feels is appropriate.

Why does anyone pay attention to it, then?

Because college football fanatics (such as ourselves) try to find and digest any ranking/article they can in order to discuss and dissect amongst friends/family/forum dwellers.
