Anyone watch the UGA spring game?

I wouldn't give too much weight on the spring game, we sucked real bad last year as well.

I tried to watch it. I got bored and fell asleep. I don't understand ESPN's love affair with the Bulldogs. I would guess that perhaps there is a Georgia alumnus high up in ESPN management, but I know none of them are that accomplished.

The Dawgs are going to middle of the road next year and might just go in the tank.

It couldn't happen to a nicer crowd.

Go Jackets!

Cept they don't have a new coaching staff, a new offensive and defensive system, and a starting roster that was over 50% underclassman.

Didn't watch UGa's game, but I did watch quite a bit of Clemson's. It looked like Clemson is going to try and go upfield a whole lot more in the passing game. They also hit the TE on a post that has caused us trouble in the past.

I want that program to die a horrible death and go 0-12 every year. Nothing would make me happier than to see their program crumble just like the University of Washington has. As an added bonus, if Athens becomes scorched earth, then typical UGA recruits will lean to GT, the #1 football school in state.

I chose thumbs down because I want them to be atleast competitive on the field when we beat them so they have fewer excuses to make...
They will always make excuses. It doesn't matter.

I don't want to see those wretched cocksuckers on TV or their ugly pet mutt, but I think we're in for a long season of ESPN fellating the top tier SEC teams. It will be even more insufferable during losses, because it will simply "prove how deep and tough the SEC is."

Large fanbase = large ratings

Not many Georgia fans outside of Georgia. Pretty much despised around the other Southern States and the rest of the US could give a shiite since the Dawgs generally never play outside the South. I bet their ratings were nothing to write home about.

If you're selling out an 80K stadium every home game one would think that qualifies as "large." The only schools that would produce significantly higher ratings would be ND, UF, USC (west), OK, TX, AL? Plus ESPN has the love affair with the SEC right now. Other than that UGAy is on par with the other big programs in the nation. I think its safe to say most football factories that consistently win 9-10 games are despised outside their home state and opponents.

I'm calling shenanigans on this one. UGA does not get good rating because of who they are. They get good rating because college football gets good rating, and ESPN is force feeding us the SEC. People are going to watch whatever game is on TV. For what it's worth, I've seen many more examples of Big Hidden Eleven teams getting undeserved Saturday night games then SEC teams.

The mutts are a fetish particular to the state of Georgia. The rest of the South hates them, and the rest of the country doesn't care. Trust me.

I don't know. Growing up in TN in the 80s, everyone pretty much fell into the "don't care" group.

Alabama, however, was a team to hate.

Ok, so lets say Mississippi State, USCe, Washinton, Indiana, or perhaps Kansas (just picking random schools) had their spring game on this exact time slot. You're saying the ratings would be the same bc its college football in general? I'm sure the Dawgs are hated every where. I dont doubt you there. But they are a perennial top 15 team which is going to generate interest from non-UGA fans. Plus its the SEC, and I can bet you MOST sec fans (regardless of team choice) were watching that scrimmage. I was...bc they are an opponent so why not check out what our biggest rival is doing.

If you are going to make a silly list, at least include Tennessee, Ohio State and Michigan, all of whom have HUGE stadiums, alumni populations, and sidewalk fanbases. State has as many alumni as a mid-sized country.

I gotta say that you can find Ugag fans just about everywhere. Hats and car stickers/magnets can be found all over the country. Hell, in 2005 I watched the tech v ugag game in Spain... next to a dog jerk... i meant fan(freudian)

I was talking to a guy from NY last week who somehow wound up in Columbus on gameday last year; it was hilarious; his description sounded like Athens, right down to "scary rednecks" who could not have been students.

Thats why the ? was included after AL. It was off the top of my head. My list are not silly thank you.

Aye matey. I thought the question mark after Alabama meant all the others but only 'maybe' Alabama.

If the nadlickers let ESPN film the game free, then more power to them as it certainly beats watching LPGA or IRL or whatever the options are.
