Well, the writers who record their AP votes have spoken. SEC has 3 in top 25 (6, 11 and 12; Aub UGAG and UT). The new ACC has 6 in the top 25 (3, 9, 13, 15, 16, 18; Mi, VT, FSU, Mary, NC ST and UVA).
For those with votes outside the top 25, the SEC has 5 teams, the ACC (old or new) none. The totals now include the top 47 teams.
That leaves the SEC with 4 teams and the ACC with 5 teams with no votes. SEC - Kentucky, South Carolina and Vandy; ACC - Clemson, Duke, GT, UNC and Wake.
Thus the ACC will likely have to wait another year to garner the votes to be the top FB conference. Strength of schedule will likely be used to knock ACC teams down, but not give ACC teams enough credit to move up to top 25. While, in the SEC it is set up to move SEC teams down but not out of the top 25, while the 6 teams outside of the top 25 are poised to move up.
Well, enough whining for the following year it will be obvious to all that the ACC is the premiere FB conference!

We have the #3 schedule in the country. If we can get a bowl bid, that will definitely turn heads around the country with our schedule.

Thanks for the information, GTnut. Verrrry interesting and exciting.

Your personal opinion (and others of course) what do you think chances are of adding the 12 team, and it being at least a top 10/20/or25? Man that would slam the door.

While, on paper, it would be great to add another perennial football powerhouse as the 12th member, it's important to realize that the stronger the conference, the more the conference schedule will hurt to top teams. The SEC, for example, has historically been one of the strongest football conferences with 4-6 teams that can take the conference title in any given year. With that much parity in a single conference, they can end the year with 3-4 teams tied with a 9-2, 8-3 record (i.e., no one vying for the NC from the conference).

Even without a strong 12th member, we have probably exceeded the SEC in the number of NC contending teams. The scary part is, GT's program is clearly not one of them...yet.

Here's to becoming one.

Good points/info Jacket-it, and thinks for the added information. I think we will we become!!!!!!

Personally,
I think it will e very difficult for a team in the ACC (11 or 12) to go undefeated. However, that will depend a lot on how the divisions are alligned, ie FSU and Miami in same division.
Regardless a team with only 1 loss coming out of the championship game will have to be considered for the NC game. With 2 losses, it will all depend ........
