Link at bottom. Not saying this is right or wrong...just passing along the perceptions out there.

Quote from Annapolis writer Bill Wagner:

Georgia Tech, on the other hand, just fired a coach who never suffered a losing season. Chan Gailey compiled a 44-32 record in six seasons at the helm and, by all accounts, was let go primarily for going 0-6 against in-state rival Georgia and not generating the type of excitement that sells tickets.
Simply put, Johnson would be expected to win at least seven games right out of the gate at Georgia Tech and to contend for the ACC championship by year two or three.

That doesn't say anything about our winning seasons weighing on the search. EVerything that article said is true, but so what? Fans had enough of Gailey but apparently you hadn't.

If a coach doesn't think he can win 7 games here and beat UGA every now and then, then we probably don't want him.

First of all...I did not state an opinion either way and clearly state that....so please improve your reading comprehension skills.

Additionally, it absolutely does say that IN HIS OPINION it could be a factor because it puts a more difficult outlook on a job the coaching community considers challenging.

the candidates should consider that fact. PJ has taken too much time IMO. GT has to have a coach that is jonesing to come here. Remember O'leary came back and took the assist job just to get his chance.

We should talk to JT and CH and gauge WHO WANTS the GT job THE MOST.

I agree with the desire part...that is absolutely critical I think.

However...I guess it could be worse. You could have $3 million/year to pay and not have a coach like Michigan or Arkansas!!

I don't really care too much at this point...I am tired of the delay on PJ's part....He needs to decide now what he wants to do & we should (maybe we have) drawn a line in the sand. 1. He either wants to coach & be competitive in that division (where ever that may be) 2. He wants to MAKE BIG $$$ and have less pressure to win & have someone pay for his and his assistants living expenses on top of their salary (he better stay at Navy if he wants it all)...and bring em all with him "no restrictions"...The longer this plays out the more I am WILLING TO PASS on him & say may the HIGH BIDDER win...
Personally I wouldn't want to lose Kelly, Smith & some of our other coaches just to pick up PJ...(not saying it's a sure thing we retain any of these coaches)....
PJ has drawn this whole thing out too long & will only get worse now that Duke's hand is in the cookie jar....I say hire Hatcher....bank some cash & let him go after BIG OC and promote G Smith....and we roll back out on the recruiting trail there's pleanty of unfinished business to be handled there as well....

I agree with each of you above...I want the coach to be excited about it or else the chances of success drop in my opinion. I wonder if DRad gave PJ a deadline?...I would have given 48 hours...but I am not the AD.

all the delay & back in forth b/w the schools makes it look like the HC candidate is just stroking his ego..."who wants me more" or "who will pay me more" or "here's where I want to live & oh by the way you gonna pay for that too (and for all my assistants as well) & don't tell me they ALL can't come & make the same.....then JUST STAY AT NAVY if you've already got all those things & it's going to take such a "special offer" to get you to move b/c you're getting or have some kind of COMPLEX about how important you are...I want a HC who is excited about coming to GT & won't use multiple jobs to leverage raises or second guess our offer....

Plus they're BASHING PJ on 790 the zone right now for the DELAY.... So it's already fracturing the fan base.

We are going to have a divided fan base if PJ is hired now. He has waited to long to make his decision and it makes it look like all he cares about is money and couldnt care less if he was the coach at GT or not. Not the kinda coach we need right now.

You don't make a multi-million dollar decision that will not only affect your life, but also your family's for possibly generations on a 48 hour deadline. And if PJ is not DRad's man, why would he give him a deadline? As was said, the delay is once again fracturing the fanbase, which plays into DRad's hands in the long run.

And those of you that think you can hire Hatcher at a discount might want to reconsider. He's watching this whole thing play out. He knows what kind of money is getting thrown around. He also knows that if/when we turn to him we are out of options. He won't come cheap.

Well I would think that Hatcher would come at a lesser price than the money that is being tossed around...based on their resumes...however, I could see it being easier to get Hatcher to sign a contract for less up front & more incentive based pay...
I agree with you about the waivering playing into DRad's favor..... SO WWCD (what would clapper do)...
As far as the money comment....Don't you think once you hit a certain $$$ figure that money isn't that big of an issue...he should already have more than enough money to take care of himself...Of course it's never about how much money you make but it's about how you spend/save the money you do make...and why is it his responsibility to care/provide for multiple generations of his family...that could back fire & produce some spoiled, lazy, and worthless people as well...what's wrong with making them earn their own money & provide for their own family...

God, all you do is post crap like this hiveredtech. Gailey is gone, get over it.

And stop cross-posting, douchebag.

GTKyle....HiveRedTech is one of the best posters on this board. If you read his email, he was just posting the info, he was not giving an opinion. Please read, before posting. Last thing we need to do is run off one of the only posters, that brings good info to this board.

I second your opinion.

If a coach doesn't think he can win at least 7 games with our current players, and doesn't think he can beat UGA in the next 6 years, I don't want him.
