Are PJ and Wommack an UPGRADE from Gailey and Tenuta?

was Trussel an upgrade from Cooper at Ohio State? only time will tell.

When you hire PJ you are going into a different direction. In some ways you can compare Cooper(actually Tenuta was w/ him) and CG. CG did not perform horribly but there were disappointments EVERY year.

Second post over here.

I say yes because the excitement PJ is bringing = fannies in the seats.

I usually try to stay out of these debates.

I will say that when the "entire" package of coaching, program management, game management, branding, and player development is considered, I think that PJ will be an upgrade on the HC level.

Remains to be seen. Hiring a new coach always involves a risk.

Should we have fired a staff that had never won fewer than 7 games to hire Johnson/Wommack? I'd say no---given the resumes of Johnson/Wommack, that risk should not have been taken. If I were on a board of directors, if the risk did not payoff and payoff quickly, I'd fire the manager that took the risk. He should have had better options lined up before he fired the previous guy, and his failure to do so is poor management.

Then again, in this particular situation, the board, and not the manager, called the shots, and the only shareholders for them to answer to are the fans, and the fans....well, the word fanatic comes to mind.

I'd have to say so. And I don't think you stop at the recent hires I think you go back to Dave Braine's resignation and the hire of our current AD. We've been improving, honing our game, from that point. We've completely flipped from "just this" or "just that" and are back to a SOLID foundation of WE WANT TO PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER FOOTBALL TOO-DAY.

Too-day. Say it with me.

There's no way to tell until they have a record, so the question is pointless right now. Of course, after they have a record no matter what it is the people who want it to be an upgrade will argue it is and the people who don't will argue it isn't, each side making excuses until the facts can be molded to fit their argument.

Replacing Gailey with a tree stump would have been an upgrade.

Couldn't be worse.

ummm ... yes it could ... and that is what scares me. I am leaning on all the expert's opinions that CPJ is the man, but I am still nervous. And Wommack was a head scratcher for sure, I am waiting to see who fills out their staffs. Then, I will have a little better feeling, either way.

I think we can all agree the jury will still be out on Wommack for a while. We know what CPJ brings to the table, and IMO that part is an upgrade.

Asking people to speculate is fair. Otherwise we better shut the board down until September 08.
