Are Tech's receivers that slow?

Re: Are Tech\'s receivers that slow?

Its funny that Fridge taught Lil Joe and Godsey'junior year and then two kids at Maryland. Ralph is a perfectionist and our staff is the players "friend". Its not all speed. Middleton never made it to the NFL but in our early lean days he would always be out there alone. I haven't seen anyone alone for a couple years now.

Peter Warrick 4.5
Plaxico Burress 4.55
Dez White 4.5
Laveranues Coles 4.4
Jabar Gaffney 4.4
Javon Walker 4.5
Kelly Campbell 4.4
Antonio Bryant 4.5

Re: Are Tech\'s receivers that slow?

I think Watkins and Glover are fine receivers, but they are more of your possession type than your blow by them for the bomb type.

Sadly, looks like Kelly was more of a burner and not as much of a fundamental route runner/catcher or he would have stuck on an NFL roster somewhere.

Bridges seems to have good speed but has freshman jitters catching the ball.

BOB may not be able to throw over the top but that doesn't explain why we don't use the TE or back in the flats more...

Re: Are Tech\'s receivers that slow?

No.. the receivers arent that slow... too many times the placement of the ball has been to the wrong side of the receiver... the WR and QB not being "in the same route" ... receivers overthrown... the passing from the QB perspective has been inconsistent at best... and I never see AJ step into his throw... seems to always be throwing off the back foot, even when there is no rush... now, its not all his fault.. there have been ALOT of dropped passes... but to the main question... speed at WR is not the problem.

Instead we are taking the sack or getting the intentional grounding penalty. A lot of those sidelines passes to he wideouts are at the feet or behind the receiver.

Re: Are Tech\'s receivers that slow?

Right, I was thinking out loud about our short game generally, rather than the backs/tight end play-calling.
