Are you more excited about football? Or basketball?

Basketball because of all the new guys AND some of our best guys returning. It's going to be radically different with more height and a great dunker...

Key might improve things and restore our identity but I'm not sure he's the next O'Leary.

I just refuse to get my hopes up for GT sports anymore. I’ll wait to see whether we continue to suck as expected, or outperform that level of suck, and by how much. GT sports exhaust me more than reward me. I’m not scheduling my Saturday calendar and catering my Saturday mood to GT football anymore, sorry. At least not until the school buys in, bigly.
Take a swig of this then put these on.

Basketball. Damon actually has an established record as a head coach and has put together a good group of guys on paper. Key has not.

Come again? Key was the head coach for half of last season and it was like comparing apples to oranges the way the team played.

More hopeful about football, and I still think 2025 is the season there where we may reap not having Clown around anymore.
Pastner was supposed to be a great recruiter but I think the talent gap in hoops is greater than it is in football on the level of merely competing against most everybody else, save for Duke in hoops and Clemson/FSU in football.

I can't imagine being excited about basketball in August. This thread is an abomination 2 weeks before kickoff.
It's sad. Sure, I deserve the thumbs-down in what I replied with above. But I'm just being honest, and I think this thread shows it's not uncommon.

It's hard to fault anyone for being a down about the state of our football program. It's not just the öööö season records. It's the öööö product on the field. It's all the BS we've been fed by the program and the GTAA about the clownshow before Key's arrival.

Fair or not, Key and some others still here were a part of that. Fair or not, that means you have to earn it without the free benefit of the doubt of an entirely new regime. Fair or not, we're in a free agent period of college football where rosters can be turned overnight. Fair or not, if GT says it's going to compete at the highest level then that means regardless of GT's perceived academic handicaps -- and looking at the acceptance rates, school rankings, and where smart kids are applying to in the south up here... I'm a bit over that excuse anyway.

I really hope Key & Co succeed. There's not a single ounce of me looking for him to fail, unlike a lot of fans (sic) when we hired Gailey and Johnson, for example.

But GT is my first and only love, and she's just let me down too many times recently to come back and say "this time it's different baby I promise". GO JACKETS anyway

This is a pleasantly difficult question! Last year at this time, both sports had major leadership problems. Now both have head coaches who impress the hell out of me. Not drinking the gold Kool-Aid, but for the first time in several years, I’m hopeful.

Did not want to start another thread for this post, so it might work here. There may be another political move with-in The Institute to stop using " to hell with georgia " when someone yells " what's the good word ". Apparently some people think that's too harsh and want to change it to "sting 'em " Don't mess with tradition a-holes!

But if I had a son, sir, I'll tell you what he'd do—
He would yell, 'sting ‘em!' like his daddy used to do.
Yeah.
NO

And there are people who want to change "Budweiser" to Buzzweiser" because Budweiser is alcohol.

öööö 'em.

Yeah, but can they finally make FT when needed?

There's no problem here. "To Heck with Georgia" is the well established alternative for conscientious objectors to "Hell".

I think "Sting 'Em'" could be considered problematic. Stinging is violence. And what if they have an allergy.
