Arik Gilbert to the Flats?

Lol at the headline "hit the jackpot." More like Gilbert hit the jackpot securing his 2nd bag in as many years.
 
I hope he has 18 catches for 400 yards and 8 TD's in a Florida blowout victory over the winless mutts.

Marietta and Gainesville are mirror images....and they are so close to each other. He will get over that homesickness real soon...and he can wipe his tears with the spare c notes lying around.

Betcha he will. Not only did he put his hand in the dirt at LSU, Kyle Pitts constantly had his hand down at UF as well as lining up as an H-back. @Techbert Pitts is a good comparison but did more traditional TE stuff than what I think LB will do.

He wasn't inline due to the importance of what he did inline. UF has 2 other TE's they use for tough yardage and that sort of thing.

They put him inline so the DC's across the field would have to have one more thing to prepare their defense for - what to do when 84 went into his route from inline.

Not dissing Kyle. He did what he was asked, but he and everyone knew his value was as a mismatch on routes.

No doubt, just don't think we see LB doing that. I think he will be a true receiver with no hand in the dirt

the point was that Blackburn and Gilbert will likely play similar positions. Big hybrid receivers who are much more about catching passes than blocking. They will line them up in various positions to get mismatches and probably not have them run-blocking close to the LOS all that often.

That is the way I see him. If we can get him in motion and have a MLB try to cover him coming out of the backfield, we can complete some big throws. Other plays, move him outside and pick on corners.

Yeah-my point is that they don't and won't. And that LB will not be playing tight end and will not be putting his hand in the dirt. I'd go as far to say that I doubt we see him in the H-back position.

Look at Gilbert's HS and LSU film. He's a traditional tight end that will sometimes lineup with a slight split and even less occasionally out wide. And he's slow. He is big, but looks slow. His feet look slow, he does not look agile like with LB. They're built differently.

I do agree about getting the matchups, every coach tries to get their guys in the best matchups.

I have not looked at Arik Gilbert, because I don't much care what Arik Gilbert can do except one weekend each year.

Leo can hurt the competition, and it does not matter to me if he goes into a three point stance every once in a while to do it. That's a coaching choice, not a limitation.
