During 7-on-7 drills in last Wednesday’s practice — just the second of the spring season — Tarrant picked off two passes from Georgia Tech quarterbacks. On one occasion, he leapt high and snatched the ball from an intended receiver. Earlier this week, matched up against receiver Kevin Cone, Tarrant got his hand on another quickly-thrown pass from starting quarterback Josh Nesbitt.
“I feel a lot more comfortable than I did last year,” Tarrant said. “I’m still trying to shake off all the rust as far as getting back in the pads and tackling and that kind of thing.”
Another area he’s hoping to revive is his special teams play. Getting a tryout this spring as a punt return specialist, Tarrant is getting an opportunity to field kicks for the first time since doing so in high school.

I'll be one of his biggest fans.

All of the stigma attached to his name from dadgum ORAL sex. I feel for the kid, I really do.

Anyone know the eligibility left for Tarrant? Do we get him another 3 years or 4 years?

I believe he lost a year of eligibility for it cause I remember a discussion on this board about whether or not he could appeal the NCAA for it after the charges were dropped.

We get him for 3 more. This is his RS Sophomore year.

Next to Morgan Burnett . . .

. . . Tarrant is the most talented player we have in our secondary and we have some pretty good ones. He is a genuine baller and can make plays. He has great hands and I think he will be the answer we have been looking for at the punt return position.

I said this once before, but getting Tarrant back was the biggest additon we made to this team going into 2009. Anthony Allen is a close second.

Go Jackets!

C'mon Jerry, remember we have a guy named Burnett back there. Nice thang to disagree about though, huh!?

I think you nailed it. Both Tarrant and Allen will have MAJOR impacts this season but I think Tarrant will be the biggest. Having a true shutdown guy , like he appears to be, allows Burnett to rome around and be most effective at safety and totally changes the dynamic of our defense. CPJ also seems to really like him at punt return.

Is it September yet???

Remember how bad our D got when Jahi went out with his hamstring injury?

Getting Tarrant back is H-U-G-E.

Good post...Jahi's importance to our D really stood out in the time he was out. The secondary should definietly be improved.
