As HORRIBLE....

The TO is built on THREE options. When your QB can't run, TWO are taken away. You now have an offense that consists of handoffs. They knew that. They stopped it.

That's actually pretty brilliant/true. I'll tell people that now when they ask why we won by 3. Thanks.

It was telling how little I heard Cox or Roddy Jones called together. When the QB is not quick enough to make him or the A-Backs a threat, the TO falls apart.

Not to mention Booker was also 3/13. He was inaccurate all day, including a horribly thrown interception. There was one three and out which consisted solely of three straight incompletions. CPJ tried everything possible and Dwyer up the middle was unfortunately our only legitimate threat.

I do not care to read or hear any more clever comments about how poorly some of our conference brethern are playing and how we should be a top 25 team etc. I think today's performance should be an indication how far we have to go to be a good football team. The offensive line play is very poor which does not bode well when we play teams with better than average defensive fronts.

Exactly right on! We are not a great football team. Good, Yes but not anywhere near great. Unfortunately the OL is the hardest part to learn in this offense and I can tell you that the Coaches are not sleeping at not because of our performance.

The upside is IT WILL GET BETTER! We need to stop drinking the gold kool ade and realize that we have been lucky in some games to be 5-1. JN is a play maker that we haven't had since Lil Joe and we need him healthy. Jaybo is a very servicable backup that needs to stay healthy as well.

We are headed in the right direction!

I have to agree with whole heartedly with gsu_painballer. There were several plays were Calvin pitched right after he received the ball instead of showing a QB threat first and then pitching. Because of that reason, GW keyed in on it and decided to shoot the "A" gaps to stop the dive and the fan out the defensive ends to stop the pitch. When Calvin was being hit in the backfield it was because the tackles busted through the A gaps at full speed because that was all they were concerned with. When Calvin had a chance to get past the end and actually keep the ball, he did well. When Calvin pitched the ball without showing the run threat, it was just disgusting.

we should be able to run the ball on GW and not get sacked when we throw... the schedule gets alot tougher

I understand what you are saying 56jacket but we also should have beat Furman in 83 and didn't. These games happen, let's take a deep breath, have a drink and get ready for Clemson. We have a bus, you need to ride up with us!

Mover--Someone i was talking with prior to the end of our game said that the GW game reminded him of the furman game you are speaking of... I was 7 so I dont remember!
My comment above was mainly because I compare GT to GW as varsity vs. JV. I figured we could knock them off the ball without too much effort but hey things happen and we won and now we move on....

I'd love to go up but I cant do it this time. i plan on seeing you in the club in 2 weeks @ homecoming...

One of the better DLines we played against in 86 was UTC, go figure. We barely won that game. I think we all agree that each team has athletes but mentally we didnt show up. I'm positive that wont be a problem all week.

Thank god we didn't go to overtime, we'd assuredly have lost.

Mover, I'm also starting to wonder about the ballistics of a 6'7"OG trying cut a 6'0" DT. That's a hard block to execute even when you can get leverage. Best I know, you can't cut when the other guy is below your pads. Call me nuts, but ... <shrug>

You've heard of a moral victory? That was a moral loss.

Disagree. We took our third-, and fourth-string QBs, who are not suited for this offense and were able to rest the starters, while still coming away with a victory. Now, our second- and third-string QBs are both 1-0 as starters this year. The folks behind me were yelling for JN to go in. I'm glad CPJ showed restraint.

As the coach for Gardner Webb said, that was probably the best result for us. This young team will not only listen to the coach from now on, they will never take anyone lightly again.
