As pissed as I am, I still believe Key is building a Championship program.

Syracuse stings a lot. Could’ve had either that or Louisville in my opinion. Tough to gain consistency when your starting QB goes down. You can think what you think, that’s fine. But your negativity isn’t reality. We played well all season and lost some very close games to some very good teams. Won a couple close ones against good teams too.

Not trying to be negative and maybe still frustrated from last night, I just don’t see this season being a significant step forward from last years team. I do believe the DC hire is an upgrade and that side of the ball continually got better. Key and King are massive upgrades compared to Collins and Sims. I think Key has hired and quickly made decisions on existing staff that have been good for the program. I also think getting King was as significant to our immediate improvement over a Collins lead team as any hire. But the season is now over and I have to be objective. We are a 7 win team for a reason. As the kids say this years team was mid.

And we will lose
There will be little enough motivation as it is now
Tulane would be a tough draw and Memphis just beat Tulane
Agreed. Both of those teams are garbage. We gain nothing facing either in a bowl.

There’s always an excuse. This isn’t a dominant GA team as they’ve been in past years. You have a 2 TD lead with 5:30 to go along with multiple opportunities in OT. We should have won the game.
Agree. Not a popular opinion. But it’s true. Last night was 2013 all over again. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

As always, gotta aim for a P4 matchup. Above geography and payout, the matchup is most important.

I do think our performances in national TV (and viewership) will help our selection order this year.

Wins:
FSU (2 possibly 3 win team)
GA State (3 - 9)
VMI (1 - 11)
Duke (9 - 3)
UNC (6 - 6)
Miami (10 - 2)
NC State (6 - 6)

Loses:
Cuse (9 - 3)
Louisville (8 - 4)
ND (11 - 1)
VT (5 possible 6 wins)
UGA (10 - 2)

As stated Duke was our 2nd best win. The reality is we beat 2 teams with winning records. This simply wasn’t some program building stand out year.
The comments here resemble last year's post-mutt thread.

"Wait Til Next year!"

The kids literally don’t say that. We need to learn to step on the throat, and we need to come in nasty regardless of opponent. We are NOT good at that yet. Definitely play to the level of the opponent still. Last night is either program changing for the positive or negative. And considering Brent’s not a pussy, I expect us to be playing for an ACC title next year and a spot in the CFP. We were one ACC win from finishing in third place, in Key’s second season, following the biggest disaster Tech has had. If this is our mid, I can’t wait to see the no cap

7-5 has and will always be mid

Really poor take. You can do better.
Texas’ Wins over teams with a winning record:
Colorado State of the Mountain West
Michigan
UF

So please tell me how my take is poor, but yours so good? Our “mid” wins were over 9-3 Duke and 10-2 Miami. Look at the teams I listed for Texas. Get the öööö all the way out of here with your bitch ass take, as the kids say.

What I would tell you is assuming they hold on tonight Florida is probably their 2nd best win. That’s nothing to write home about however they cant control their schedule. With that said, they handled most on their schedule pretty easily. Before tonight they failed against their biggest test. Overall great year.

11-1 is a bit different then 7-5.

No. My pick stands. If we’re going to knock Tech for only beating two teams with a winning record, Texas has only beat 3, and one of them is Colorado State.
It'll be 4 after they're done with overrated A&M. They have only 1 bad loss, to the garbage mutts.

We were a good, but not very good, team this year.

It was a solid year where we beat several teams we should have beaten, lost to a several teams who were better than us, had one fantastic win on homecoming, and came up inches short against the dwags.

I don't see how anyone would call a 7-5 season a stand out year. But we've gone from 3-9 every season to 4-4 (interim year), then 6-6, and now 7-5 with a very strong finish.

We are right on schedule as far as recovering from the Clown era goes. Next season is when we need to take the step forward to very good.
