Auburn Conspiracy Theory

I don't think that it really explains the hiring, but it TOTALLY explains why Tuberville would get the buyout and yet Auburn would insist that he resigned.

Can someone actually check on the clause about no coaching searches actually being in his contract? That would cinch it for me.

Tubs contract as of February, 2005: (aka AFTER jetgate)

Section 11 of his contract states that Tubs couldn't be involved in a coaching search elsewhere unless the AD was ok with it. Nothing in there about the opposite.

It also outlines the buyout and under what situations it will occur. It specifically states that the buyout will only occur if Auburn terminates the contract(IE, Auburn fires him). If Tubs terminated the contract(IE Tubs resigns), he would actually be responsible to BUY HIMSELF OUT for $6,000,000 in 2008(amount changes each year)

This explains the letting go of Tubberville, but it doesn't totally explain why they went with the worst candidate for the job, Chizik.

Auburn firing Tubberville makes no sense for a reason. Auburn probably didn't fire Tubberville. Instead, Tubberville was either (1) Fed up with people breathing down his neck all the time or (2) Found out that they were talking to other coaches and felt like he was stabbed in the back .... maybe both.

In Tubs "resignation" letter, he referenced the section in his contract that outlines Auburn terminating the contract, not the one that outline Tubs terminating the contract.

I believe 100% that he was fired.

I also believe 100% that the Auburn AA is run worse than GT's under Braineless.

I don't generally believe in conspiracies because they take too much intelligence and discipline to pull off, which, by definition, means that no conspiracy is possible at Auburn.

A good conspiracy takes a great deal of intelligence and discipline to pull off. A bad conspiracy, and you end up replacing a guy with six 9+ win seasons in 10 years with a guy who is 5-19 in two years.;)

Living here in No Alabama and talking to 10 or 12 AU fans/grads over the last few weeks, they believe he was fired and most are very angry with his termination.
