Auburn fires Harsin

The point you’re trying make isn’t as clever as you think it is
No need to be clever, just stating a point that is obviously going over your head.

Auburn has the ability to make poor contract decisions and rash firings. They have the $$ to do so. GT who prides themselves on being so much smarter than the rest, has ended up with 2 of the worst contracts in recent memory. The revolving Hewitt contract was absolutely brilliant by his agent, has sent the hoops program into an extended period of mediocrity. The CGC buyout for a guy who had proven nothing as an HC after a break stint at Temple, was again a dumb contract that has set back an already cash strapped program. Was anybody seriously going to come for Collins without Collins proving he was the next Bobby Bowden? And who signed off on that buyout again?

Point is, GT is getting the vast majority of their $$ to pay off these bad contracts from an aging alumni who actually cares about sports, and a select few high $$ boosters who didn’t even attend the school.

Where is the future of financial support coming from? Doesn’t seem to be all those 1/X millionaire grads.

Why would smart people pour money into ööööing athletics as evidence for how smart they are. We are in no way participants of the football program except to enjoy it. The fact that idiots l over this country many of whom have no ties to the school they support is not an indictment against GT alums, but rather an indictment against the religiously obsessed college football fans who have been driving the sport into the ground by showering barely legal teenage boys with attention, money, strippers, and recruiting perks so that they can tell their friends their favorite team is the best.

Auburn is the borderline personality disorder family member. Everyone in the family but them is in therapy because of their crazy ass life.

Instead of bitching about it, how about stepping up and showing us how it's done? Surely, you're a 1/X millionaire grad high $$ booster by now.

So why does a ööööhole school like Auburn have resources that a world-class institution in the heart of Atlanta lacks? This is a ööööing joke.

Because the resources come from people donating specifically to athletics. The school isn't giving the AA that money. At GT we have a ton of donations going to the school but not the AA.

GT should subsidize the GTAA in order to get us on par with the big boys. If we can't reach parity, then we are just pretend playing and wasting everyone's time. Play to win or gtfo.

That's what this new fundraising initiative is doing. Sure $2.5M is a drop in a bucket compared to what is needed and what the Foundation has, but it's nothing to turn a nose up at and it's a start.

And yet this has gone on long before the BCS era until now. The only difference is it’s all more publicized and has TV revenues to bolster this. This doesn’t just apply to CFB. I think everyone has heard the jokes as it relates to GT during the Cremins era with cars, $$, etc.

But by your logic, because other P5 major CFB programs / fans care more about winning means they are doing something wrong? All the while I’m sure you complain about how things “aren’t fair” because schools like Alabama, Clemson, tOSU, UGA, etc have moved themselves to another level of performance. Yet I’m sure on the cheap you expect GT to beat Clemson & UGA 1/5 years. Both programs are 50x better than they were before Dabo and Smart took over.

I like how you also neglected to comment on the brilliant contracts the school approved as it relates to Hewitt and Collins. Again, the so called smartest people in the room made 2 incredibly poor decisions that have set not only both programs back, but the AA as a whole.

GT is losing the alumni base to bail them out of the poor contracts, along with the very few boosters who also care about GT sports. Yet they don’t seem to have any traction with the “1/X” younger millionaire grads. So what’s going to happen in the future when the dwindling high level $$$ donors are gone? This isn’t an issue at others schools who have a fanbase who is willing to put in the $$ knowing it truly is going towards athletics aka Auburn. And GT doesn’t have the now 4th rated TV contract to fall back on to keep them afloat.

Yes I think it is morally wrong how much money is spent on athletics.

No I don’t complain about things being unfair and no I don’t expect GT to compete on the cheap like the powerhouse schools.

Rich boosters for CFB is basically a poor man's version of owning an NFL franchise. There's a ton of folks out there with a lot of money and not much in the way of brain cells though.

Hugh Freeze's buyout is slightly less than $3,000,000. This is nothing for rich boosters with a hobby of hemorrhaging money anyway. They'd be stupid not to at least try. Freeze and Malzahn are close friends, so I'm certain Malzahn had some good advice..

Auburn has fired every coach they've had since 1976 I think, so there's no reason to think this won't continue regardless.
