I remember making ten bucks a game or so in peanuts but a whole lot more in Cokes. I could be wrong and the peanuts were maybe .45c. I remember .45c being a popular number and I don't remember having to worry about the math for over a dollar. I'm pretty sure that .15c was a bag and that people bought three bags often. You must remember that these bags were small back then: the size of your hand or so.
A dollar or two an hour plus watch the game, I had a blast. I could have made more (and remember tips were often involved) but I was new and had to handle the south stands. It wasn't til I was about to stop doing it that I realized I could ignore my territory instructions and made a whole lot more money. That's also how I started selling Cokes. I literally hid my peanuts basket and just stood in line at the Coke dispensary and started selling Cokes (a rank I hadn't really earned yet). My last game, I made so much money selling Cokes at halftime that I turned my stuff in and just watched the game for most of the second half.
Of course, the long time pros got to sell programs which were the real money makers back then.
