Auburn's Tony Franklin fired

How can you fire your OC when your a Top 25 team?

smell the sarcasm

A classic example where the tail wags the dog. Tubberville must have felt some real heat and got scared.

That's just mean and tasteless, as in the videoing and disbursing of someone just fired cleaning out their office. No need for that, unless it's Mark Richt.

No one picked up on my comment of a school of higher learning following this situation so closely that they can fire someone 8 months (6 games) into their job.

Remember not too long ago...Auburn managed to let their school accreditation slip?

So...they can watch their offense closely to scrutinize management over a 6 game/6 week period of time...but...

oops....forgot about our college accreditation! :wow:

LOL. I had forgotten about that.

Still amazed that one of those SEC powers would fire their OC half way into the season.

Was Franklin up in the box or down on the sideline? I wonder if Tommy was over ruling his playcalling during the Vandy game.

Franklin and Tubbervile must have gotten into a pissing match on Tuesday. That's the only real explanation that makes any sense.

Franklin started off on the sideline, and then a few games ago Tubby ordered him to the box. I will be honest---few of my friends are large AU alum -- and are really unhappy with what happened with Franklin. The man can coach the spread, but was not given a good chance with the players.

Why would you bring in Franklin if you're not going to let him run his offense? What we've seen at Auburn isn't anything close to resembling the offense Franklin has mastered. Not only that, but Tuberville wouldn't even let him bring in his own assistants. What kind of smart management is that?

Can you imagine Coach Johnson trying to install his triple option with Coach Geis and Coach D'Alesandris still here coaching WR and OL?

Auburn's poor offensive production is 100% Tubby's fault.

+1 Exactly what my friends have been saying, as well.

Auburn is running a spread offense ? I watched 3 of their games and had no idea. It looked like a Patrick Nix on qualudes offense.

Auburn's offense is absolutely horrid, but I wouldn't put it all at Franklin's feet. The QB play has just been vile, and the OL has been only a little better. I don't really care for the scheme much (not that it can't work, I just don't like it) and it underutilizes their best player, Ben Tate.

It suffered from the same problems as Nix did at Tech ... wants to be a spread, HC keeps butting in, other assistants don't buy it.
