B-Backs Moving Forward....

I am well aware that I'm not as up on our roster and the future of our roster, but it seems to me that we now have a plethora of A-Backs (add Chris Jackson to the list) but not so many B-Backs lined up for the future. Is this a concern to anyone else, or am I off-base?

I don't forsee a problem since only one B-back can be on the field, where as two A-backs are required. Plus, two players (Cox and Allen) can play both positions.
 
Dwyer, Lyons, Watson and Cox are all capable of filling the position and Allen could give it a go if necessary. Lets not forget that A-backs can fill the roles of wide-receivers on some plays as well as contribute a lot on special teams, so it isn't as surprising that we have more.

I think we are fine with B-back depth. After JD goes in the first round next spring (knock on wood), highly recruited B-backs will be fine with playing in our offense. Especially now that there are so many schools running the passing style spread. Texas, Florida, Utah, Texas Tech, Missouri, etc etc are some examples of schools that do not have feature RB's.
 
We are going to sign a real stud next year to be the next #21. It is going to be a new college football tradition that will be murmured about across the land:

Who will be GT's next number 21?
 
QB and O line depth are what concern me at this point. I'd like another QB or two in the system that would allow us to redshirt any QB coming in no questions asked.

I am concerned about OL and DL play more than anything else this year...following closely by QB...mainly because of depth of experience.

moving forward though....

OL depth is being rebuilt pretty well from what I can tell after several departures prior to last year....and we could end up returning four starters next year depending on who wins the center spot between Voss and Bedford.

We have 16 OL's on scholarship this year...enough for more than one at each spot in a perfect world. 16 is the highest number of OL we have had in the last 15 years.

I am not worried about Qb depth. More to the point it would not bother me if we did not take a Qb this year, however I really want Days. Next season we will at best have 1 Senior (Nesbitt), 2 RS Soph (Jaybo and Washington) and 2 RS Fresh (Luallen and Sims). At worst we will have 1 Senior, 1 Junior (Shaw), 1 RS Soph (Washington), 1 Soph (Luallen or Sims, and 1 RS Fresh (Luallen or Sims).
 
I'm scared to death at QB depth personally. Jaybo just doesn't seem to have enough in the tank to take us to the promised land. Tevin has proven nothing. And the freshman so far, don't look all that good.

After Josh, there is a big dropoff and he only has two seasons left.

Tevin hasn't had a chance to prove anything and I don't get where you're coming from on the freshmen.
 
The ideal scenario is to have a redshirt Jr. or senior as your starting QB. It really takes that amount of time in the system to achieve the proficiency necessary to excel in this offense. Anything less is "on the job training." Josh is still in training mode and folks are worried about the true freshmen not looking good. Are you kidding me???

It takes time to build that kind of depth. This is PJ's second year. RELAX.
