Ball Spotting

My dad always mentioned how funny he found it how officials will toss the ball around, guesstimate, use their feet to spot it, but THEN...get the chains out and measure it precisely 10 yards for the first down.

Kind of like how teachers get questioned on their calculation of marks, never mind that the individual marks going into the calculation are riddled with subjectivity

He's not the only one.

Pretty easy for a ref on the take to consistently "get it wrong" on purpose.

so I don't think it will be much longer until we have practical and accurate technology to track the ball in relation to the field, eliminating subjectivity on spotting, out of bounds, and touchdown calls. How would yall feel about that if it could be implemented?

Big thumbs up from me.

It my long experience of watching GT football whenever Tech plays a team of national significance, invariably we do not get the benefit of good spots by the side judges. In most instances it is the official that is closest to the opposing teams sideline...correlation? Me thinks so. I expect we will have to play lights out to beat a good ND team with a little flavor of home cooking. It can be done, rewind to 2014 in Athens.
