Bama and VT at the dome in 2009

If they did line up GT with a big SEC team, I think they would want less GT fans so that more SEC fans come and book more hotel rooms.

I bet we don't, at least doing it here in Atlanta at the Dome. All the Tech fans won't be staying it hotels and eating at all the restaurants like out-of-towners would.
 
Great, now we get to watch an overrated ACC team get crushed by a strong SEC team and have it drag the conference down for the entire season. Sounds familiar...
 
I don't think VT is overrated like in the past, they are not even ranked right now. If we win our bowl game, we will most likely be the highest ranked team in ACC next season.

VT is ranked 19 right now, playing #12 in their game.

If they win and we lose, we will be ranked below them...maybe.

If we win we definitely come in as the highest ranked ACC team, probably top 10.

Also, Alabama won't come in as a sleeper. They will be top 5 barring a humiliating loss to Utah.

However VT will be overrated for two reasons. One, they are the big name in the ACC right now and lazy voters will pencil them in pretty high. Two, SEC coaches and sportswriters will rate them high partly to make Alabama look better (win or lose). Also everyone likes a high ranked matchup.

I do like VT's D to do what they do and keep it close thereby demanding respect. Barring Tyrod and co giving up a bunch of points on O can you really see VT laying an egg against anyone in such a game like the egg Clemson laid?
 
I also thought we would see some snide comments in such a thread about how VT will bring 3-4,000 travelling fans...

VT will do better filling up an Atlanta game, but it will include a LOT of Georgia and Carolina based VT fans. And I'll be surprised if Alabama doesn't overwhelm them due to proximity in part.

It is probably common knowledge that I do not like VT at all. That day it will be nice to actually be able to cheer for VT for a rare change.

YES. It will be worse than the Clemson game. VT is not good. They gave up 30 to Nebraska, 30 to FSU, and we would have put 30 on them in a late season game. Match that with absolutely no offense. Bama will beat them handedly. 38-10 is my 9 months away prediction.

To be fair, Nebraska scored over 30 in every game except 17 against Missouri and 28 against Oklahoma and the 30 against VT included an 88 yard kick return.

Also, Alabama scored only 17 on Kentucky and 20 on Tulane. They didn't break 38 after week 5. And they will be breaking in a new QB.
 
Interesting. Somebody down at the Dome has been doing their homework.
 
VT is the ACC champion. That means they're overrated. If that doesn't make sense, read the following sentence (I can see the news headlines from the future):

"ACC Champions obliterated by the Tide"
 
Theoretically VT should be pretty good next year though, right? TT is great already, and I thought they had an all new o-line this season.
 
I can all but guarantee an Alabama victory -- I'm pulling for VT. I'm almost automatic with VT. In games I hope they'll win they stink it up, especially out of conference. When I'm pulling against them they play a great game or pull out some of that Beamer shinola and end up winning somehow.
 
You know VThug and Dutch Boy is gonna sellout their allotment. I mean just look at all those filled seats at the ACCCG. And everyone has seen the Orange Bowl tix flying like hotcakes... :D
