Bama/GT Series Canceled?

OK, I'll shove your opinion too since you asked.

Since this is a board for opinions, I will respect your opinion to be chicken**** right along with DRad.
Yeah, and you just keep right on overreacting to situations that we don't know the ins and outs of yet. You are one of those people who just waits for anything to start panicking rather than wait for some actual info aren't you? When I actually know what's going on I'll have an opinion. Kind of makes more sense to work that way, doesn't it?

If it was gonna be a "neutral" site like Dallas, then I'm glad we're not playing them anymore. We'd have a visitor section's worth of fans who would make the trip to Dallas, and Bama would sell it out.

It wouldn't be us playing Bama in Dallas, it would be Bama playing Texas/OU in Dallas in front of a huge Texas Stadium crowd and national TV audience while we play Samford in front of 38k at BDS because we are now apparently Bama's bitch.

It wasn't going to be. We had a home and home scheduled with them. Regardless of what ESPN wanted, we could have stuck to making it a home and home if we wanted to. Unless, of course, Alabama bought their way out. But for us to request that the game be canceled because ESPN wanted it to be neutral site would make no sense at all. We could have just said "no." There has to be another reason.

= Bama bought us out, and we've now got the cash to fire Hewitt.

This is what I've been saying all along. We have no incentive to go along with it unless they're buying us out. It makes sense.

They are scared of the TO and dodging a LOSS---Saban wants a NC schedule (the chickens--t)---just MHO.

I don't know if this is exactly correct, and we may never know the truth, but I'm inclined to think you are right. I don't think DRad or CPJ would give up a chance to play Bama unless some sweet motivation presented itself. I'm thinking maybe it frees us up for a Chick-fil-A kickoff game or something similar.

I know some of you are above going to the Hive, but you may want to see ALincoln's post over there on the main board. It's an awfully detailed post for someone just "hypotheticalling".

how much are we talking about? Army paid us less than a mil to get out, not close to Hewitt money..

The new ACC TV contract has been a big concern for at least the past year. Obviously, a tie in with another conference would be a big deal, and PAC 10 would make some sense. If the ACC needs Tech to be involved, that would probably take precedence over a single game sellout. This is probably the best explanation, particularly when you consider the timing.
