yes, the problem is that X changes it's value depending on the situation of the rivalry. X is pretty much infinity now that we have lost so many in a row. I should write a mathematical treatise of the UGAy rivalry.

I kinda agree with this; however, I would say that in a perfect world, you never want to lose to u[sic]ga. I believe that there are two lines of thinking: Those would would sacrifice a loss to u[sic]ga for an amazing season (i.e. 11-1, winning Orange Bowl/Nat'l Title); and those who believe that any season with a loss to u[sic]ga cannot be amazing in any way, shape, or form.

Count me in with the latter. I posted on the topic of u[sic]ga being ranked no. 1 with this same thought: Even if we were to go on to win the national championship, if we lose to u[sic]ga in a season, all that they would say to us is, "We still beat you." (and vice-versa). I think that a lot of people who say that winning the ACC/national championships is more important than u[sic]ga don't have the true hate involved in the rivalry. (I know that someone will probably flame me for saying this, but this is just my opinion)

What makes this rivalry so important to both sides is the hatred. It's the contempt we have for each other. That's why they (u[sic]ga fans) don't really care as much about the game any more. They would much rather see a win over Florida because they have hardly beat them over the past 20 years. Last year, do you realize how giddy and jacked up u[sic]ga was about winning that game? That is why we need to reestablish some competitiveness/dominance in the rivalry game. In football, first and foremost, but everywhere. Get them mad, reestablish the true, deep-rooted hate in their hearts, because many have forgotten. The bandwagoners just don't know. At this point, we're a foregone conclusion to most of them, while they remain priority number one to us (as evidenced by my long rant)

I want Tech to win the ACC. I damn sure want Tech to win the nat'l championship. However, ANY season in which either of those occur should include a win over u[sic]ga, otherwise, I'm not satisfied. Nor should any other Tech fan. It's called "Clean, Old Fashioned Hate" for a reason. We see each other everywhere we go. Hell, I just worked for a u[sic]ga grad this summer, who rubbed it in at any opportunity. You always want to have the leg up. You always want to be able to say you're better. What easier way than to win, win, and win again? At the end of the day, I can live with the old cliche of 1-11, as long as that win is over u[sic]ga. Because, if I can take anything positive out of that season, those clowns from Athens can't say a damn thing to me :p

I think X = the number of consecutive wins of your rival, minimum 1.

spoken from someone who truly doesn't understand the rivalry. For this comment you should be banned!

That, in essence, was the point of my far too long-winded post. A 10-win season with a loss to u[sic]ga is one win short of a good season, and I hope our fanbase as a whole never gets to the point where we don't feel this way.

Not really. You'd rather beat UGA than win an ACC championship?
I've just had it out with one of the UGA fans today and you'd better believe, for my part, I'll take a win over UGA anytime than an ACC championship. Winning over UGA is not just a win, it's all that matters.
Matter of fact, at my age, it's about all that matters.

beat UGA or national championship?
That's a non-issue, because we can't play for the BCS title if we lose to UGA on Thanksgiving.

Kyle, where'd you grow up? Maybe you just haven't lived around the ballsack lickers long enough to understand that nothing is more important than making them miserable.

Yeah, but say, as many want, we moved the game to the first game of the year. Then it would be possible. Or, if UGA was #5 and we were #1 and lost in OT. We then might drop to #2.

It only takes one game to beat UGA. It takes an entire season to win an ACC championship.

What good is a national championship if it is tainted by a loss to UGA? You need to win your state before you can win a nation.

Worst of all worlds would be our winning the ACC and losing to UGA. Then the ACC would be the "All Clowns Conference".

I mean really Kyle, how do you celebrate a "championship" when everyone knows you got bitch slapped by UGA.

Why even talk about getting beat by UGA? Let's talk about beating UGA in Athens this year on their way to a SEC Championship. Would you rather beat the SEC Champ, or win the ACC after beating a UGA that lost to UF?

I WANT TO DO BOTH! But, pressed to choose, the only win that has ever tasted as sweet as a win over UGA was the Citrus Bowl in '90. So, I guess I'd say winning a National Championship feels about as good as beating UGA. But, it just does not get any better than when the Jackets beat Georgia in football.

Wait, there's an ACC championship? Oh, that must have been that game I thought was a scrimmage played in front of a half full stadium that no one cared about.

ACC championship is worthless. Of course, the automatic berth into the Orange Bowl would be great, but beating U[sic]GA is still more important. What's a BCS berth worth if we have to listen to their incessant taunting from the end of the regular season until the new year(and beyond)?

A national championship would be different, but as many pointed out, that's not happening without beating U[sic]GA. I haven't seen "many" people who want to move it to the first game of the year, and even if there are, that will never happen. It doesn't make any type of sense for U[sic]GA, and the only sense it makes for us is that we have a better chance to upset them earlier in the season...and we should be looking to make it so that it's not an upset anymore, rather than figuring out ways to make the upset easier.
