I don't believe in playoffs. I like the fact that the last game of the season can be a win for several fans and that more than one team can argue about who is number 1. That's what makes college football special and when you form a playoff you are taking yet another piece away from the game.
When you use the word special, I am thinking of special as in the politically correct way of referring to individuals (or things, in this case) who are handicapped/lacking in some way.
If the playoffs do end up happening, it may start off with a play-in game (4 team playoff). But then it will definitely expand as did the college basketball tournament. NCAA basketball tournament started as an 8 team tournament in 1939. They didn't increase to 32 teams until 1975. The first year to play with 64 was 1985. It takes time.
