I'm glad someone mentioned this because I do recall sitting near a chain link fence when I was very young.

It was old when I was there as a kid at the Pepper Rodgers football camp, that was '78. Was still old when I lived there in the 80's. I walked by it the other day and it actually looked like it wasn't in bad shape, go figure.
 
Have you ever been under the west stands? A good portion of the original concrete stands are beneath them. It's like stepping back in time when you look at them. You can still see some of the seat numbers. If memory serves me correct (and at my age, that's a big IF), there was a fire underneath there a few years ago. The area was being used for junk storage (old desks, etc.), and someone wandered in there and started a fire. I've been told that unfortunately, that person had no means of exit and died during the fire.

I wandered down there once last year out of curiosity. There was definitely a bunch of old crap down there, but I guess I didn't go deep enough to see the old stands.

I went down there once in the early 00's when they were doing stadium renovations. It definitely was like stepping back in time. They kept more than desks down there... They also kept sporting equipment. I have a souvenir GT baseball practice jersey from that night.
