If I were the B10, I would pursue Tech, Notre Dame, UNC, and Miami.

Clemson doesn't bring a market and they depend on Georgia for talent. FSU is attractive, but less so than Miami purely because Miami has more $$$ than Tallahassee.

And who are those eyeballs in that TV market? Millions of USC and UCLA grads and sidewalk fans, PLUS a ton of Duck, Sun Devil, etc. grads/fans that have moved to LA who they will get exposure to any way. Plus USC and UCLA grads/fans across the rest of the country.

My point (although maybe not expressed clearly) is that here in Atlanta (nor nationally) they don't gain anywhere near those same number of eyeballs by taking GT. Our fan base who actually care is small and weak. Stingtalk members plus about 1000 others.
You keep trying to focus on the number of GT fans. Yeah no öööö that would be a losing deal. There are B1G fans in the Atlanta area and, moreso than most elsewhere, fans of college football in general. No one gives a öööö about UVA's brand or fan support either so it's clearly not the driving factor.

The more I think about this, the more it requires the B1G to decimate the acc. The B1G has to take enough ACC schools to void the grant of rights - which I think is half of the membership.

The SEC will not take ACC teams for one big reason: ESPN already owns both leagues in terms of carriage rights. ESPN isn’t going to allow one property to devalue the other. Thus, the SEC will not step in and start trying to lure ACC schools until there is actual threatened movement by the B1G in pulling half the acc away (which probably does not happen).

Long story short: us and the rest of the acc are probably all stuck to each other in a suicide pact.

Guys, welcome to the new world that GT has been hiding from for many years. Real world öööö, big closes the deal by GT, UNC, UVA, Miami. Afterwards Sec will add Clemson, FSU, VT, and NCSU. Some of those pieces might change depending on timing. It’s going to be close to what I predict.

I’d be fine with this. It gets us to a good landing spot and it screws Duke, Wake, Louisville, Pitt, and Syracuse

You really think the conference cares that a few Big10 alumna in Atlanta get to attend a game in person? I don't.
JMO, but I think it's all about adding large fan bases to maximize TV eyeballs and branded merch sales.

Soon the Big10 and SEC will only play within the conference until the playoffs, so the more grads and sidewalks they have interested in watching every single game and buying merch is their route to riches.

The article attached below contains the grant of rights contracts for the ACC and the other two conferences in play. Can you and our other legal experts give us your analysis on the ACC contract. The fact that there is no state specified seems strange. I am surprised and relieved that they did not specify North Carolina.

I’m not a subscriber so I couldn’t get past first paragraph.

This is a loaded question since I never said anything about B1G fans attending Tech games. Attendance is irrelevant. My stance is that there is enough interest from Tech, B1G, and CFB fans in general in the 7th largest, football-crazy Atlanta TV market to make it more valuable than what you believe is higher concentration in lesser markets.

Here is the Grant of Rights contract.
So a few things:
1. It only goes through 2027 - that’s not all that far away. I thought it went through 2037

2. There’s no criteria or process that I see for getting out of this (hence irrevocable). I assume that to get out of this requires that the conference no longer exist - so look at the conference bylaws to see what vote is required to dissolve the conference thereby ending the GOR (since there would be no entity to hold the rights)

3. There is no choice of law provision as you noted. That looks to be sloppy drafting. I assume since the conference is headquartered in NC that NC law would apply, but I don’t know this.

Overall it looks like a pretty hastily drafted document or one that is missing lots of parts due to having to pare it down to get everyone to say yes.

1. My understanding is that it was extended later due to the ACC Network agreement.
2. It seems the easiest out is a majority vote to dissolve the agreement. I could see that many teams potentially bolting for a combination of the SEC and the Big 10. The other option is ESPN stepping in and forcing a resolution.

I’m not sure that they can vote out the GOR. It says it’s a irrevocable grant. Dissolving the conference might be the only way to do it. I’m not sure what the bylaws require to dissolve the acc.

The fact that the authpr included Arizona in the list but not ASU demonstrates conclusively that he does not know jack öööö.
