Big Money for CPJ

gsu, i must have not expressed myself well at all in this thread

first, my initial negative reaction was not toward you but Kyle for trying to assume he knows more the DRad as far as the contract for PJ

like everyone else has said (and i thought i said it too) i appreciate your support of GT football, and like others have said, you had multiple choices of which "other" program you chose to support

so, thank you.

i dont think only the contributing people are fans either, and many of them think they have too many assumed rights as well.

certainly the AA can live without my contributions. but i support the team as GSU does also, i go to the games, even when i lived in San Diego i had season tickets - not to brag but i love going to the games and cheering the jackets

my real only point was that the people who donate $$ will likely make up for the increased salary. it is really that simple. AND - im sorry but athletic fees for students wont cover a dime. they will pay for better uniforms for the volleyball team maybe or the travel budget for the track team.

sorry to offend, i am glad you are a GT fan.

i still think DRAD knows better than you or Kyle what GT should do with CPJ. and i will be there to help make it happen

i even threw in a hottie to try to make the "argument" go away

that is all. i am off the island

All the revenue generated, regardless of whether its from a student athletic fee or a football ticket, goes into the same pot. I don't understand your argument.

also, kyle, i was not talking about $ for tickets. i was talking about a contribution for nothing in return except AT points and a tax deduction

because it's a public institution and I've invested a lot of money into Tech? They post an annual report at the end of the year anyways.
and if you think DRad doesn't have options for fund raising to support his plans you're dreaming. This is an investment and one that DRad has plans to cover. But no one is going to give you an explanation so you might as well drop it.

it is an interesting amount b/c even though we have a mid to small stadium we are pay BIG $$$$ for coaching salary.

As a fan I am happy. Ironically I will probably NOT be able to renew my season tix. I have a 17 month old son and need to be closer to home.

You need not attempt to make yourself look like some amazing person because you make a contribution to an athletic program. I'm not interested in martyrs. Athletic contributions DO NOT make a fan. Support, a positive public image, and being a good fan towards others is a damn good start.

...I guess people like you are where other fans get the "Georgia Tech self righteous asshole" view from.

Well said, paintballer.

BuzzCzar, I've called you arrogant and condensending in another post. To that, I now add pompus. Unless you have amassed over 10,000 A-T points, you are not in a very good position to cast yourself as an authority, spokesman or major player in the coach's salary derby. The guys who are, however, aren't doing it so they can be looked upon as "big jackets." It is a much higher calling to them.

Paintballer and Kyle, keep on keeping on guys. We appreciate you. You're the ones that help make the game worthwhile. Someday, you may hit the mother lode and when you do, we know where your heart will lie.

That's okay. I'll replace you. I'll be in D.C. next year (a whole lot closer than 4400 miles) and be getting season tickets next year. Hopefully I'll make it to at least 4-5 games, depending on work. As I'm sure you know, being a young lawyer = insane hours and ruined weekends.

Substantively, I'm told this won't be a problem financially. It sends a very good message to future recruits and potential fans: GT has decided it is going to play (and beat) the big boys. No more low coaching salaries and low expectations. This is part of being a real program, with real seat licenses, etc.

I've got a question. I don't understand why we have seat licenses. Why not just raise season ticket prices? As I understand it(this was my final year as a student, so I am just now researching season tickets), you pay the seat license every year, so in effect it is just a raise on ticket prices. Why separate it? Tax reasons?

Correct.

Okay. One more question then. Why the hell do I have to wait until February to buy season tickets? Is it like this at all schools? It seems that right after we beat Georgia and right after we (hopefully) beat LSU would be the time when most people would be excited and wanting to buy season tickets. By February a lot of the excitement and the heat of moment will have died down.

Kiebler backs up the big money for Johnson!!

How can we afford this? ;)

yeah, a guy with GSU in his font will contribute to GT, wha????

my point was who the hell is Kyle telling DRad what to do when he is not invested in it at all?

but ill be a douchenozzle for a day if you promise me not to use me on your pu$$y

You'd be surprised about how many GSU fans are now all over the GT bandwagon, I'd say that 85+% do not contribute directly with gifts as most of us do to GSU currently, I assure you if this market swings i'll do my best to send in my money. Like Erk once said "I'd rather have 10 boosters giving 100 dollars than one giving a thousand" This will eventually turn over into a few life long fans of GT. This is my first season as a tech fan and i've loved every min of it (esp the part where a few people doubted PJ and I got to sit back and watch him win over everyone.)

I don't think i'll ever give up on GSU even if our jump to FBS and the sunbelt (?) destroys one of the winningest teams of the last 25 years. Although I still have room for improvement in my Tech fandome and slamming fans who are not on the same level as you will not help your university as a whole, that I am sure of.

It doesn't matter what info you have, your argument is retarded. You say that student athletic fees don't count to supporting the football team because technically that money goes into a large pot, of which football doesn't need to draw into because it is a revenue positive sport.

While technically correct, it also misses the point that every sport is under the umbrella of the AA, and if the AA is in the red, it will draw away funds that the football team could have used for upgrades in locker room etc.

Writing a check to the "Football Team" isn't any nobler than writing a check to the AA, which every student does every semester.

not accurate. football would pay about the same, but b/c of increased athletic fees, VB and Swimming and so on can be upgraded. its not necessarily a FB or athletic fee proposition. sometimes it is an athletic fee or not at all proposition. that is what i was trying to get across with the second post.

the AA would then just have to tell the VB coach (for example) that no he cannot stay the extra night in the hotel and has to drive up the day of the game and stay only one night.

you guys just love to pile on top and try to repeat what others have already said - Oleary would make fun of you

slamming fans who are not on the same level as you will not help your university as a whole, that I am sure of.

once again, for those that CAN NOT READ

i am NOT slamming ANYONE for anything other than acting like they have any kind of understanding of how the AA works or know more than DRAD when they are not even a contributing member (after which, you can find out how the money is being used at times)

so, quit piling on top, i know its easy to do and many of you have nothing else to get on top of

but still, if you want Kyle to negotiate PJs contract instead of DRad, please raise your hand. or shut your mouth, b/c that is all i was saying - FOR THE THIRD TIME
