Big Money for CPJ

When does this happen, fever? I missed it entirely.

Our president who is leaving early next year said it is inevitable

GSU’s feasibility study on moving to the FBS is due to produce results in mid-to-late January, Grube said. Once the university has that data, the decision-making process will begin.
The study isn’t a yes-or-no proposition, however, and nothing’s going to happen quickly.
“What the study will tell us is ‘here’s the roadmap you need to go down to see if you can get there,’” Grube said.
Grube has no doubts that GSU will eventually enter the FBS, but said the university has to balance its checkbook while making the move. That means a lot of private financial support, not student fee money.
“There’s some room for movement on student fees. That would require students to be in support of that,” Grube said.
“Providing sports entertainment by soaking the students through additional dues that are substantial, I think borders on unethical.”
In addition to financial concerns, the school would also have to enter a conference. GSU isn’t Notre Dame, he explained, and doesn’t want to be a Savannah State.
Another concern is remaining competitive in football after the move. Moving to the next level might mean a much harder schedule, Grube said.
Any FBS move would have to be approved by Georgia’s Board of Regents, and GSU would have to submit a business plan outlining the benefits of moving up.
“I can’t take a business plan that’s not real to the Board of Regents,” Grube said. “We need to do it right.”

And as we all know the SunBelt or a New conference would be the only possible jump for GSU to make because they are too weak for the C-USA and Big East is so far out of the question it is not funny. Now if ECU splits with a few more teams from C-USA and Sun Belt it could be a perfect match for GSU.

I think we will know exactly what the plan is in Febuary. (The new Prez could end all this talk really quick though)

BuzzCzar, I'm a sidewalk fan who is going to hopefully be a rather well-off doctor in a few years. What makes you think I wouldn't want to support one of the things I love most when I have the money to do it. Right now, I barely have a few bucks in my pocket, and can't really afford to even to go to GT games, but it won't always be like that. Does that mean I don't care for GT football? You love GT because you went there. I love GT because of what it represents. What makes you a better fan than me?

for the last time --- NO, IT DOES NOT MAKE ME A BETTER FAN THAN YOU

but it may make me better informed about what happens to the money once it is donated. AND it gives me a little more right to try to influence how the money is spent

that is all. i hope all of you get super rich and donate lots of money and get all of your friends and relatives to do the same, and then GT will have a huge fan-base instead of the relatively small one we currently have based on alumni.

PLEASE guys, why are you making it seem like i am saying that those who did not contribute $$ as a donor are worse people and that non-alumni are not worthy fans. I feel totally the opposite

my only point FOR THE FOURTH TIME NOW is that DRAD knows the numbers and can make a good decision. A better decision than GTKyle can make. And, since the question was asked of how the increase would be paid for, it will mostly be covered by increased donations to the program from those that chose to donate

If Kanye says so, it must be true

Well sir, you haven't said all that in the most endearing manner in your previous posts. Just saying...

Well Buzz, if you hate the lovers of the purple then you are a friend of mine!!!

How can we afford this?

We just gave our coach a 40% raise after one year. As much as I like CPJ and the job he's done, I just don't see how this works out for the AA financially. If we win the ACC next year do we start paying him $3 million a year?

You may have seen this. It is a link to an AJC article that goes into justification.

Among other things, RAD said:
“As I go out to do my job, whether it’s to sell more tickets or to increase contributions to the overall athletic department, when you have a successful football program, the door opens, the phone call is taken. Just because of the magnitude of the program, as far as how it’s covered in the media and television and radio, all the different media outlets, there’s a value to that.”

Off tangent here, and maybe I should be posting this in Off-Topic, but LLTW, I hope you are not holding your breath on that well-off doctor part -- speaking from experience (and a hell of a lot of medical school loans. ) :)

Maybe it is a good time to switch to coaching. :)
