Which, thankfully, Tech was not on the wrong side of is on TV right now on MASN (MidAtltantic Sports Network).

Miami was up on Bobby Ross' Maryland Terrapins 31 - 0. And lost.

MD was led by QB Frank Reich, who also was part of the Buffalo Bills historic comeback against Warren Moon's HOU Oilers in the 1993 NFL Playoffs.

Also, this year's UCLA vs Texas A&M was a 34 pt comeback

    Best high school comeback ever.

By score deficit, aTm/UCLA this year was bigger. UCLA was down by 34.

Score deficit? I prefer to go by heart ache. In which case our squandered 20-0 lead on UGA a couple years ago was the biggest ever.

If we're being utilitarian about it, total heart ache in a comeback loss is probably maximized with the aTm / UCLA game, which not only involved a larger deficit, but what is probably a larger fan base as well.

I'm not willing to consider a different approach, because I don't want to remember the game you're referencing. At all. Ever.

Remember that year when Vad transferred before the uga game, so we skipped it and the bowl?

I remember Vad setting ACC records against UNC. Probably the most promising, talented quarterback to never start a single game at Georgia Tech. Shame.

The sarcasm is so deep here I've gotten lost and I'm no longer sure what direction I'm going. That said, Vad really was a very talented QB. He set a lot of records at JMU — including being the first D-I QB to ever rush and pass for 275 in a single game. That's pretty amazing.

One of the things that worries me most about CPJ is how some starters and star players want to move on. How often does a team's starting QB transfer? Or its leading rusher? Worrisome.

Obviously Vad's departure worked out OK because how JT5 played in 2014... but still, it suggests something in the relationship of coach to player that is off.

I think it was pretty obvious why Vad transferred. How often does the benched starter move on? A lot. Same with Marshall. Other than that, most of the rest have left for NFL contracts or graduated.

One OL apparently couldn't get accepted to grad school. Another, who wasn't NFL caliber, left for Microsoft. Neither of those are on CPJ.

Who did you have in mind?

Both the stat-leading guys who transferred from our team that come to mind immediately were getting ready to sit, despite their immense talents. I don't think it's that odd, and I think similarly talented players transfer from other schools all the time when they are going into the depth chart. By pure numbers, talented players transferring out probably happens to the average team we compete with more frequently than it does to us. It might happen more frequently that those players lead in statistical categories for us than happens at other places, but then again, those kind of guys don't often get buried here lately.

Why would you think that Vad would be benched in 2014? Vad transferred days after the Music City loss, when to all appearances he was going to remain the starter. A quote by our intrepid beat reporter at the time of the transfer:
I don't have the memory or energy to produce all the names I'm thinking of, but you've left out plenty. One OL wanted to become a cartoonist, another a NASCAR pit crew member. It is undisputed that there's nothing strange or wrong with their choices. Except if it happens with frequency, it begins to look like something else is going on.

I like CPJ, I like his offense, and I think most complaints about our situation are naive. But I have heard from people that spend a lot of time around him that his personality can get pretty grating.

Towards the end of Vads year, I heard people saying that JT5 was out performing him in practice. I wrote that off as backup qb syndrome until seeing JT5 in 2014.

The pit crew job was akin to landing an NFL practice squad contract. No shame there. The cartoonist, was just weird. I don't think we have shown any more attrition than other non-elite P5 programs. The elite ones have higher turnover.

Over the years, I've met 1 GSU and one USNA grad both of whom raved about CPJ.

The elite ones might have higher turnover, I don't know... but they can weather those unexpected losses much better than us. Seriously — has it not happened almost every year that CPJ mentions shortages of players on the OL as a problem?

We did the same thing in '78 when Eddie Lee got hurt in the second half.
