Biggest recruiting need

“Biggest recruiting need”
- a CEO who values the Jimmys and Joes asoect and recognizes the limitations of his Xs and Os, even if they’re the best X&Os
- a multidimensional offense
- more than 1 good season every 5 years
- consecutive good seasons
- institutional support to facilitate acquiring some special Timmy’s and Moes

F it. We’re do for our bidecade good season soon. Leave it as is.

As a former player, what's your take on the defensive weakness. Seems to me we lack talent and can't get interest from more talented recruits.

Unbeknownst to most, the DL wasnt bad yesterday, wasn’t good but not bad. The DL has struggled this year and the CPJ tenure with pass rush bc of they don’t face OLine that slide Step and anchor. We tend to get up field but run pass the the QB and not collapse back inside constrict the lanes

Secondary is solid. Guys have to finish plays. Missed a 2nd INT and have to wrap up on tackles

Not a fan of Vic as an OLB, no speed to threaten a OT on a pass rush, not sure he’s good in zone drops either. The Stinger spot has been ok so far.

Inside LB. If you lack speed, you better have good instincts and if you don’t instincts you better be flying around hitting any and everything. When you have neither, prayer is your only hope. We need a major upgrade of athleticism and speed. I want you guys to count how many times is on his knees are attempting to make a tackle. It is infuriating

Stop with these stupid hot takes. We offer most 5 and 4* that would qualify

Damn UGA run/pass ratio is damn near 75/25 but no one cries that they don’t pass 20x gm

Make more qualify.
Perhaps we can do what some SEC teams do. Tell kids we know won't qualify to quit high school and get a GED, go to community college one year and we will hold a spot for them.

a kicker that can kick it in the end zone.

If we are going to compete at the D-1, Power 5 conference level then we have to provide a place in our curriculum for these athletes. That's just the way it is in 2018. If you don't think Duke has a place for these guys then what are you going to say if they make it 4 out of 5 this year? But I also think there is another big issue with our recruiting that may be bigger then the curriculum issue, and that is the offense we run. No doubt our offense can put up big numbers like yesterday, but I believe that if recruits have a offer from another P-5 conference school that runs the modern offenses of today....we lose. I really believe our competition hammers home the point to a defensive recruits that they will be practicing against this offense and it will increase the likelihood of knee injuries. Of course that's a big lie but I think it works.
That's my 2 cents worth about our talent problem, especially defensively.

Our best defensive players are freshmen and sophomores. We badly need DL and ILB players, though.

And this time next year, our arrogant HC will be reminding all that our Sr QB from 2018 is gone and we have a new QB that will hopefully grasp the O by 2022.

We need a soccer player from Europe who can put the kickoffs out of the end zones. We lost about 200 yards yesterday on kickoff returns past the 25. Imagine a running back rushing for 200 yards. Yesterday was obviously an exception, but I’ll bet we lost 1000 yards last year. This is well worth one ship. I’m not talking accuracy or 3 step technique, just kick it 80 yards between the sidelines.

Our scout team doesn't slide step and anchor or they're just not as good at it as the team's we face?

The DL seemed more negative than positive to me due to the lack of pressure or stopping the run. Maybe that's on the LB's more because we had a 4 man front.

Agreed on the upgrade of speed and athleticism. I don't understand why we have had a talent drop off. Our offensive uniqueness shouldn't have a major impact on defensive recruiting. I guess it's the fact that the competition is moving faster than we are and are willing to make consessions that we aren't. Clemson is the most significant example that comes to mind. UNC is another. Even though they're dirty it's still increased competition and from a school that has/had a good academic reputation. Even Duke has gotten more serious.
