Biggest Sleeper New Recruit

I'm praying that the answer is an offensive lineman.

Beno would be the only 'sleeper' of our OL recruits, though I could see Jackson or Foster working their way into the line up.

I agree though....most impactful would be a DT or OL who's good right away.

I don't think he will be able to put on that kind of size. Additionally he is far to athletic. We will want to see his speed on the edge. He gives o linemen fits with his speed on the pass rush and in pursuit.
Euclid was called "a Pure Edge Rusher" by Giff. I think we'll get used to seeing Euclid flying off the corner and putting his helmet into a QB's back.

You guys are forgetting about Uzzi and McRae. Uzzi was a 4-star and probably one of our highest rated OL in the last 10-15 years. It will be hard for a guy 3 months out of HS to beat out guys 15 months into the system and weight training.

Will Jackson or Foster are the only 2 players I can see breaking into the lineup without a Redshirt. Even then it will be tough to jump the 3 guys we brought in last year. Claytor, Voss, and possibly a Cord Howard may have 2 of the 5 spots locked down already. It will be good to have quality competition pushing those guys. It will probably be 2010 before we enter Spring comfortable on the OL.

You haven't paid attention then. Both PJ and Wommack have said we're not a 3-4 team.
I agree. Having a lot of LBs is a lot different than having a lot of playmaking LBs.

As an aside, I asked about the numbers of LBs at signing day. BJ basically said we are still looking for some playmakers like we've had in days past.

We are going to have a NASTY OL in a couple of years.

IMO, it will soften the blow of losing Burnett, Nesbitt, Dwyer, Morgan, and the rest of the '07 (non redshirt) studs...

Yes, he has an incredible burst off of the ball and has a non-stop motor. Additionally, you do not find many DEs that run a sub 4.6 forty. He will need to get stronger in the weight room as he will not over power you.. yet. Once he is taught how to set up OL men with his athleticism he will be unbelieveable.

By the way I was visiting my mother in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and my father gets a sports magazine (I think Sporting News). They polled five national sportwriters of who their sleeper recruit was across the country. One of these writers picked Euclid.

He received alot of attention from other schools and I frankly thought he was going to South Carolina or Tennessee. UGA also went after him but it was too late.

Based on the lack of attention and offers...I would have to say Lance Richardson. He did not even have a profile until he committed.

After all of the video I have looked at...and everything I read...this just goes to show why some extremely talented kids can get overlooked, end up a smaller schools, and still make the NFL. I am not saying he is NFL material...just stating that the scenario could be the same for many others out there that a GT does not happen across.

119 FBS programs X 25 signees each = 2,975 kids plus a boatload that go to FCS programs. That's a lot video to sift thru. Even if you are looking at the top 20% it's 600 players to evaluate and prioritize. Some are as good as they are ever going to get at 17 years old. Some are going to grow another 3 inches and gain another 40 pounds. Some are going to gain 80 pounds and lose a full second on their 40 times. It isn't totally voodoo, but it is by no means an exact science. In a lot of ways the uncertainty is a boon for Georgia Tech. We have had years where we have lived or died just based on "sleepers". :laugher:
