Man, he signed a nice first class for a start up program. Getting his man at QB Drew Little, and a highly thought of player out of Fl in Parris Lee is huge for that program. I see Bill and GSU doing some big things and really hurting GA Southern in recruiting down the road. I have also heard there is more then 4 D1 transfers who are expected to enroll next semester. 2 from the Big Ten, 1 SEC, and 1 ACC player.

Nice job Bill, I for one hope you build a nice program down the street at Underground!!

Good for them...as long as they don't interfere with our affairs in recruiting.

Does anyone else see the irony of Drew signing with GSU?
 
For clarification purposes: GSU = Georgia Southern University. They had that classification long before GaState.
 
anyone know where Ga State will play it's games? I haven't really followed it too closely and I'm just curious...

Not really. GSU= Georgia State, www.gsu.edu, try it.

If I was Southern I would be worried, their program has peaked. State is about to take over as the 3rd best program. You can either go to cow town or stay in Atl, its not really a tough sell.

I've been there enough. Nice campus but its in Statesboro GA one of the worst drives ever from Atlanta down horrible I-16. Southern will still get S GA kids but they won't be coming to metro area and getting as many players, they will most likely be staying home now. Ga Southern missed their chances, they screwed up not moving up to D1 a few years ago when they were winning. The ship has sailed and their program has peaked. State will be full fledged D1 before Southern ever is.

State is a better school, in Atl, will get much more publicity then Southern ever has, playing in the Dome, brand new practice facility that is first class, already have a nice fanbase started by the alumns, money won't be an issue GSU has more CEO's in Atlanta then UGA and GT combined and many have already reached out, Bill Curry is a recognizable name nationwide.

They just signed their first class without even playing for another year, and after looking at both schools signing classes I would put it up against Southern. Not bad for a school that hasn't even fielded a team.:p

I agree GaState will affect Southern's recruiting, but I was referring to it being an easy sell. State will field a good team in a couple of years, but it's not going to run Southern into the dirt.

Almost any team will peak after winning two straight national titles. Southern is doing a feasibility study right now to see if they should move to the FBS, so Southern may beat State to DI-A.

Personally, I hope they have an annual game against each other, but I haven't heard anything about it yet.

Those ingrates started off as an evening commerce school of GT.

They need to dissolve and waste away from our area if they are not helping us.

Ga State recruiting will affect Furman, W.Carolina, App St, Jack St, Samford, Tenn Tech, and UT-Chatt more than it will affect GaSouthern. GaSouthern will still cherry pick south GA and north FL FCS talent. The afore mentioned schools however will not be able to raid the metro schools quite as easily anymore.
 
Can GA State even afford to field a football team for several years? The downturn on the economy has come at a really bad time for them.
 
No matter what, Ga State football is bad for Georgia Tech. Really bad.

By the way, I see the ASC putting on a game at the beginning of the year with GaState versus Furman or something similar.
