Not really. GSU= Georgia State, www.gsu.edu, try it.

If I was Southern I would be worried, their program has peaked. State is about to take over as the 3rd best program. You can either go to cow town or stay in Atl, its not really a tough sell.

I can rationalize Georgia State eventually taking over as the best football program in the state. The sky is the limit for them. Any arguments?

Nah, most of Southern's talent comes from South and Central GA. They don't rely on the Metro area for talent at all.

Ga.State will not be successfull with football.
No fans,no history, no interest .
Ga.State has suffered forever in sports.
Bad economy indeed .Try BAD PRODUCT.

HOW DIFFICULT HAS IT BEEN FOR TECH THE LAST 40 YEARS TO ATTRACT FANS IN ATLANTA??

Curry is no Irk Russell..
and Atlanta is not Statesboro dying for Football

If I was an FCS football recruit and I was trying to choose between the most successful FCS program....ever....and a start up program...

Well I think I know who I would pick.

They are already getting tons of donor dollars. There is plenty of interest with over 100,000 alumni in the metro area. In five years this post will look foolish.

Because you go to Southern, look at their first recruiting class. Many don't think that way. Start up is appealing to most kids, because everything is new and they get to make history instead of wishing like Southern to get back to that history of success. Southern hasn't done anything in years.

Neither has GT and and good recruits still come here.

Some guys care about tradition.

Here is a break down of metro Atlanta recruits by schools in the SoCon.

GSU 3
Furman 11
UTC 6
WCU 4
App State 4
Elon 2
The Citadel 0
Samford 0

Just like ugag, screw state.

Those ingrates started off as an evening commerce school of GT.

They need to dissolve and waste away from our area if they are not helping us.

Not even sure where to begin with this one...

Who cares where or how GSU started? Every school starts small, and many started as a subset of another school.

GT isn't helping GSU, should GT dissolve and waste away from GSU's area?

Don't be an elitist.

...snip...

State is a better school, in Atl, will get much more publicity then Southern ever has,

...snip...

I almost fell out of my chair. If you think Atlanta guarantees publicity with those a-holes at the AJC, you're mistaken. All of the AUC schools barely get any publicity, and Tech is the hometown team and gets back-handed compliments all the time.

True but in a competitive world that the newspaper are struggling in, Tech is likely the loser here. GState will garner some coverage, UGA will not lose any at all, Tech will lose in the end. The AUC writers are SEC trained and bound; they will have more ammo for sucking coverage away from Tech.

It depends on the results on the field. Atlanta is a bandwagon city. If Tech starts winning consistently, beating UGA often, and gets positive national attention, then the AJC will give us a heavy dose of pro-Tech reporting. It won't be competent, but it will be positive. If Tech slides back into the last era and finishes 7-5 every season, then we'll never get any coverage. Never underestimate the AJC's ability to pander to their readers.
