the reason our defense sucks is because they only ever practice against the triple option...

PJ says that's why Bob Davies is announcing the game instead of coaching. I think PJ is the awesome...
 
I'd rather be kicked in the balls than hear Bob call our games!
 
It's just so idiotic. Do people really think our defense is going to prepare for VT by lining up against the triple option?

There is some validity to his comments. Our defense spends all spring and summer camp stopping our offense, which probably isn't the best thing for defensive success

That's exactly what I was going to say. Nobody covers the veer by playing fifteen yards off a receiver in coverage. They aren't learning this in practice, although I doubt sometimes what they are anything.

I don't know that CPJ can battle the inside knowledge of both Bob Davies AND The Champ. :rolleyes:
 
mister know it all bob davies is a pain in the azz. He shows no respect for Coach Paul Johnson by refusing to call our offense the "Spread Option". If he said "Triple Option" once he said it 100 times or more during the game.

His cohort asked him why Johnson called it the spread option. Davies' response was that he only did it to make it more "sexy" and that what the option should REALLY be called is the wishbone. Can a guy that used to be a head coach really be that stupid? That blatantly ignorant?
 
The only legit thing about it is our scout team might not be as talented as another team's at running the other team's stuff.

Well, he can call it whatever he wants. I personally think the term "spread option" is very generic, which is why you see things now like "Meyer spread". We should just call this the "Paul Johnson flexbone spread", because that's what it really is. Davies thinks it's a wishbone though. Maybe he was talking to Mickey Andrews before that game, which would explain a lot. My favorite was him talking about us lining up trips. And points it out on the play we run from base formation.

It is one thing to say you don't like Bob Davie as an announcer. He gets on many peoples' nerves, as one can see from this board and others. To say that he doesn't respect CPJ is just plain bufoonery though. He might not call the offense what you like, but he adores it.

All this announcer talk makes my head hurt. I blame myself for being lame enough to open and read this crap.
