Bohannon's Working already

Golly. If they'da caught more passes this past year maybe they wouldn't be staring at a new incoming coach who runs so much.

This is a young receiver corps guys...particularly Earls, Thomas, and Donley. Next year would be their year to step up.

We need to not treat the receivers that follow Calving Johnson like the QB's that have followed Joe Hamilton.

There will never be another Joe...and there will certainly never be another Calvin.

For me, Donley wasn't really the problem. That big drop by Earls in the UGA game was a heart breaker but you can't really down on him either. It was more along the lines of Thomas, Smith, and Johnson (I know he was hurt). I understand that they are young and I tried to not get to frustrated with it. But Johnson (junior) and even Smith (Soph) should be showing better than that. Either way, part of the blame falls on the QB, too. Many of the throws were on target but many were just plain awful. I'm not one to hold onto frustration with any particular player too long so...

I'm not asking for another Calvin, but Dez and Campbell and Watkins and Glover and Smith all caught passes that hit them square in the hands, even when they were underclassmen. It's what receivers do. We didn't need spectacular catches last year, we needed less obviously dropped passes. We needed receivers to make the easy play, and our guys couldn't even do that. And then the same guys who didn't make the simple plays complain? It just rubs me wrong. Grr.

Actually, Dez dealt with the dropsies throughout his career. But he had enough clutch catches to make you forget about the ones he didn't make.

You beat me to it!!!

Dez had horrible problems...particulary balls thrown right at him. It is eventually what kept him from making it in the NFL.

Yeah, but Dez would have caught that TD vs UGA, or the 4th down throw vs UVA, even as a freshman.

It just seemed that with Dez he didn't concentrate if it wasn't a "big" catch. Like a long potential TD, or a big first down for example. But a simple 2nd down throw he would lose concentration. That is probably what the problem was with our receivers this year. Maybe it was youth but personally I haven't thought our WRs were well coached for a while, including Calvin. But I may be off on that.

HEY! Where's the love for Harvey Middleton?

I don't have concerns about whether anyone leaves or not. Someone will step in and take their place. The only folks that I think would concern me if they left would be anyone along our D-line and Morgan Burnett. Other than that, there are way too many question marks.

I don't understand why we have to keep....

making excuses for the players.

These guys are going to have to grow up some day and take responsibility. That's one of the things college is supposed to do for you.

Anyone can make a mistake - I understand that. But I'm tired of the excuses - we're young, we're inexperienced, we are this and we are that. Quit with the excuses!! Our guy just screwed up! It happens. Get over it and move on.

But have him take responsibility for screwing up and quit making excuses for him.

Re: I don't understand why we have to keep....

chill out....these are 19 and 20 year old kids...good grief.

It was the FIRST year for Bebe, Corey, and DJ.

Also remember that we've had a horrible WR coach the last 6 years. I think that if Bohannon turns out to be a good WR coach that the WR corp will get a lot better.

The main dropper was not an underclassman.

I agree...but everyone keeps lumping them altogether. I am just getting sick of the NFL mentality being applied to these kids. They aren't the ones that can jump from program to program for milions...they have to live with their decision (and we beg them to come)....and cannot change their mind without sitting out a year or moving to some low level D2 program in a tiny town somewhere.

Gee, I seem to remember some highlights of Dez in the NFL, particularly with da Bears.

To paraphrase somebody else, the coach ought to have a meeting with them and say,

"We can win with you dropping passes for us or we can win with you dropping passes for someone else."
