Georgia Tech athletic director Todd Stansbury doesn’t know what it would look like or where in Bobby Dodd Stadium it would go. But he has interest in bringing a stadium concept to Tech football games similar to what he introduced previously at Central Florida and Oregon State in an effort to differentiate the stadium experience for fans.

During his tenure at UCF, he helped develop a 10,000-square-foot club section that featured a deck within the stadium bowl that debuted in 2015. The cabana-styled area, located between the 30-yard lines, has a bar, lounge area and catered barbecue. At Oregon State, it was a similar feature, a 13,000-square-foot end-zone terrace that offered food and drink selections from local breweries, wineries and restaurants. It opened in the 2016 season.

“Both of those were the result of trying to find ways to enhance the fan experience,” Stansbury said. “Looking at Bobby Dodd, that is definitely something that we’ll look to do.”

Retrofit the upper north into a bar deck with seating. Make it a "club" section with some seating prices and a standing room only prices. Just thinking out loud.

Is this the dude's one idea on fan expierince? He's done this at both his previous stops.
I think it's his first and favorite idea, but that's not a bad place to start. If we let the man do what he wants, soon we could have weed dispensaries in the Upper East. Those baffling periodic beatdowns at the hands of Duke won't feel so much like the literal end of the world anymore, man.

Don't we already have this in the lower east and Tech Terrace (south endzone)? GTAA supposedly sells out these seats but I question how much unmet demand there is for additional premium seating options.

As far as I know, booze has always been coming in to the stadium. It just hasn't been sold there.

I thought this was going to be a post about the OP's newest sneaky flask.

I do not understand your post at all. If the unmet demand is =1 or more then the guy is doing his job by meeting the demand.

Ways to help? #1 do what he can to help tailgating. #2 do stuff like this and offer more benefits in exchange for seat licences. #3 give away unused upper north tickets to high school kids day of game (who are not wearing red or orange).

Actually I forgot the most important fan centered improvement- win at basketball.

Booze should be accessible to us poors too. UTC just has a beer section in the end zone. Go stand there, watch the game, drink beer.

So a $20 million dollar renovation would be worth 1 additional premium seat sold? Now if we could just throw up a ropeline and make a "club section" it's a different story but it's likely a significant investment will be required to create a "premium seating experience". I simply question whether this investment would be financially worth it.

I don't think the Hill, which closely safeguards the reputation of the Institute, would jump wholesale into stadium-wide alcohol sales. Installing a better stadium experience for big money ticket holders, connected alumni, and recruit families is a great start assuming the cash flow justifies it. (Hey, someone's gotta pay for that $16 beer and $20 pulled pork sandwich). If you can't get it all at once go after something easier and scale from there.

Oh. Im on the same page now.

I think they need to sell alcohol, straight up, as a means of competing financially.

Except in the North stands. That would be the family friendly section.

Booze is coming to Bobby Dodd.

Through a different door than usual, perhaps.

Well guess I'm going to have to move my seats outta the north then,...
