Both our lines are crap

O-line can’t run block or pass protect for öööö. Only rushes for more than a couple yards went wide. D-line did OK on rush defense, but let their slow QB run all over the place, and didn’t lay a hand on him all game on dropbacks except for late hits.

I disagree. The DL was fine, but coaching or playcalling consistenly allowed UVA to run one play all night. Misdirection, throw to the TE or WR, or misdirection and the QB runs.

Uva Qb has pretty good wheels actually. D gave effort all game long. Nothing to criticize on that side.

But our D-line hasn’t been able to pass rush all year. And giving even a mediocre QB lots of time, plus having a secondary that doesn’t cover well is a recipe for failure. UVA got tons of yards tonight, but kept shooting themselves in the foot with missed FG’s, dropped passes, and turnovers.

Oline was fine tonight. You just watched incompetence at QB and a OC that doesn’t try to establish the run while wasting Smith’s talent on the sideline. Any QB with a hint of pocket presence and mobility avoids most of those sacks.

Smith looked pretty good early, then don’t remember seeing him get any carries at all in 2nd half.

We were talking about the Tech UVA game, not the other one you were watching.

Our run game was even worse than our passing.

I thought the defensive line was good tonight. I was disappointed with Charlie on a few plays that were huge - the TD and the 50 yard run by the QB.

18, 19, 20 year olds don’t have the muscle mass, growth and testosterone 21-22 do. Give it time.Key is solid.

And yet the defensive coaching/playcalling resulted in the UVA offense scoring a net of only 9 points all night. Tough to complain about that.

I seriously thought Gibson had plenty of time to throw most plays. Others he ran into the sack, held it forever, or tripped over his on feet. Kid would go down with a good breeze.
And he’s quite possibly the slowest runner on the team.
