Bowl contracts

So.....after reading a snippet by Dinich about the ACC possibly getting the Sun bowl (which I'm not sure I've heard of), this quote interested me.

Right now, though, the Orange Bowl is the only guaranteed and contracted bowl locked in for 2010-2013. The ACC wants to sign nine contracts for the 2010-2013 seasons, so obviously one bowl will have to be dropped in favor of the Sun Bowl.

Seems to me that the ACC needs to have a HUGE year this year. Several teams ranked highly, 1~2 teams in the top ten at the end of the season and 4~6 others ranked in top 25.... Seems like the best way to get the bowls we want locked up is to make our product look better. I'm not saying the quantity we had last year was bad...but the record in the bowls was. Also the fact that we didn't have any 'marquee' teams last year I think looked bad.

I don't like the BCS or the Bowl agreements.I wouldn't mind seeing College Football return to the Bowl situation the way it was in the 1970s and 1980s. I think seeing the way things are now that was superior!

I wouldn't be surprised if there were 3 top 10 ACC teams by the end of the season. I see VT, GT, and FSU going 10-2 for the regular season, and add a bowl win for each and you get yourself 3 top 10 teams. Miami, UNC, Clemson, and NC State also have top 25 potential if they can smoke their out of conference schedules.

1)The Orange bowl invited the Big 8 Champion to play an at large team
2)The Sugar Bowl invited the SEC Champion to play an at large Team
3)The Cotton Bowl had the SWC Champion play an at large Team
4)The Rose Bowl was the Pac 10 Champion against the Big 10 Champion
5)The Holliday Bowl was the WAC Champion playing an at large Team

all the other Bowls were at large invitations

The ideal situation for the ACC is for GT to win the ACC with an undefeated or one-loss record (and at least in the national title discussion), and for VPI to finish right behind us with a one-loss or two-loss record. An at-large bid for VPI would be a near lock.

The Coastal simply doesn't have two teams that have a chance of finishing like this, and the two teams need to come from the same division so the ACCCG doesn't add another loss to one of them.
