Bowls, CFP, and other Disappointing Games Thread

Let’s go Effeyes! Just destroy the Vols so it’s not 2 weeks of constant drivel about how Bama, Ole Miss and SCjr got “screwed” out of the CFP.

I hate Clemson is out. I know the media will spin a different tale, but nothing to be ashamed of this weekend. Clemson was a 12 seed playing at #5 seed home stadium. The result was predictable. SMU was embarrassed by a complete meltdown by a QB who had been playing well. But, again, that was a 6/11 game at Happy Valley. No surprise. Indiana losing at South Bend was expected. The early pick followed by the 98 yard run turned that game

When an ACC or Big 12 team loses everyone jumps on the bandwagon to say they don’t belong. The committee invited the right teams and the results, three games in, have been predictable. Honestly, I think the complaining SEC teams would have lost games in Austin, South Bend and State College this weekend.

If you can’t get 1 yard, you don’t deserve to have a shot to win.

Texas vs tOSU in the Semi’s.
Imagine calling a timeout to come up with:

Run behind the right tackle.
Run behind the center.

When neither have been overpowering the D line.

I don’t understand what it is with coaches that they don’t have at least a couple of guaranteed 2 point plays to pull out once a season or even once a career.

Even in our game against UGAg, as well as the players played, it was disappointing we didn’t have a single trick play in what may have been the biggest moments in almost a decade of Tech football.

Along with Miami.

But Miami was playing below their level at the biggest moments while we played above our level.

So no Haynes King injury this season I bet we were playing in these playoffs.
Maybe. Defense was pretty bad through the ND game. Big turn around after.

We had one but we used it earlier in the game successfully.

I think the biggest issue with the current CFP was giving the Top 4 conference champions “byes” in the 1st round. ASU, Boise are not Top 4 teams. If you reseed the CFP, it probably should have been:

1. Oregon

2-4 any of:
Texas, tOSU, uga

5. PSU
6. ND (agreed to never earn a Top 4 seed by not joining a conference).
7. Tennessee
8. ASU
9. IU
10. Clemson
11. SMU
12. Boise (G5 schedule living off a close loss in week 2 at Oregon).

5 vs 12 (BSU @ PSU)
6 vs 11 (SMU @ ND)
7 vs 10 (Clemson @ Tennessee)
8 vs 9 (IU @ ASU)

Not to say PSU or ND still wouldn’t have rolled to wins, but those were closer to the real matchups.

Then the CFP should place the winners after the 1st round to play the Top 4 based on seed.
