Brandon Gaudin: The Voice of the Braves

Interesting. Almost feels like a step back, unless MLB PbP and Braves was his dream job. Felt like he was on a path to land a more prominent college broadcast job with a large network.

Wiki says he grew up a Braves fan, and wrote a letter to Skip as a kid. I’m guessing well hear that story a few time in the next 2 months.

He’s very well respected in the broadcast industry.

great hire. its like swapping out Biff Pocoroba for Acuna. well done.
That you threw out a Biff Pocoroba reference means ... you're way beyond 30.

And just what the hell was wrong with Biff Pocoroba? Are we going to do his WAR comps with Bill Naharodny?

It is a strange move, as Gaudin was getting more and more exposure nationally and I think he was doing some NFL on Westwood One - and since the Bally/Sinclair networks may be going under any day now.
Maybe he can do a pregame call-in show and PJ can call in and needle him some more.

49. a kid in the 80's. not a thing wrong with Biff!!

Wes is the gold standard today among broadcasters. No one is more prepared for a broadcast than Wes.
Loved Al, but it wasn't as if he was perfect (the center, 6-10, from Haiti, Georgia, Yvon Joseph ... and .... Big Booba Bubby Bubba Hodge, among others)
Demetra's OK. Not bad, but not great. He's got a little too much growl in his voice, a la Scott Howard on Mutt radio, but he's not bad.
Really liked Gaudin on play by play. For a newcomer and someone without much connection to the institute beforehand, he sure seemed to embrace Tech quickly. Plus, he did a great job with the call-in shows with PJ, especially taking PJ's barbs. And that's how you knew PJ liked him, because he needled him.

I haven't heard Gaudin do a lot of baseball (apparently, he's done some games for Fox) and it will be interesting to see how his pairing with Frenchy goes. Chip and Frenchy had a great connection and it showed.
Gaudin still lives in Atlanta, so my guess is he's been following the Braves ever since he left Tech radio network too.
