Breath of fresh air...

Go back and reflect on how much effort we put into recruiting Sims and how meaningful it was that we won that battle.

I've really enjoyed the press conferences of all of our position coaches during fall camp. I would post them, but you can go look them up on the GT Athletics Youtube page. They've provided many great insights and in general make me more confident in the coaches we have leading our team. I wish this was the unit we had a year or two ago to be honest... hopeful we see the progress quickly as we all know this staff is on a short leash.

We won the recruiting battle because all the other Major College coaching staff said He wouldn't play QB. For a kid that only wants to play QB, we're the ONLY option. I hope I'm wrong, but for the last 2 yrs he's shown why they didn't want him as a QB. FSU and Maryland both said he wouldn't play QB

to hear things like this coming from our new QB coach...

The most boss thing is the emphasis made of his growth or understanding of the offense and managing the game. It’s classroom work over the physical stuff like mechanics or whatever.

Weinke is impressive thus far.

They came away looking like dumbasses, too.

Retard take. Guy was Elite 11.

Dude you're confusing him with Justin Thomas. Sims was always an elite QB prospect and flipped from FSU.

If this coaching staff can win enough this year to survive, Sims has a chance to be really good next year. Good enough to make himself some money in the draft.

If the staff can’t win enough this year, Jeff will have to start over with new coordinators/QB coach (either here or somewhere else). Probably would heavily impact his money making ability in the pros.

Jeff definitely has some skin in the game this year. I’m hopeful he impresses us all.

Where are you getting Maryland didn't want him at QB? I don't think that is true. And I don't recall that FSU was pushing a position change, either, though it's true Norvell wasn't as high on him.

In most P5 programs, this is the year that Sims would normally just be taking over the starting job. The offensive transition at Tech created a situation where he was forced into being the starter earlier in his development than would be ideal. Hopefully, the early playing experience will be beneficial, but it seems like I've heard coaches say that there can be some negative aspects to rushing a young QB into service. From what we've heard from Weinke and Long, that doesn't seem to be an issue for Sims.

That is 100% incorrect.
