Just listen to him after this loss, I think we are in for one hell of a ride over the next few years.

I feel we are able to out maneuver and stay ahead of the NIL issue with things they can't offer, plus we may have an advantage for the toughness we play with, even Kirby noted how hard we play.

Just my 80K for the evening...

The guy knows what he’s doing. He’s made some great hires and has killed it on the recruiting trail. We have a guy that loves GT and isn’t going to settle. He’s still young so mistakes will be made, but considering where we were 4 years ago at this time, the future looks bright. Just need to get over the inexperience issues.

Key‘s first two seasons have been a lot more fun to watch than the 87 & 88 seasons (Ross’s first two). We went 7-4 in 89, Bobby’s 3rd season, capped off with a home win over the leg humpers. I hope Key stays around longer than Bobby did.

Key is still learning gameday strategy. He clearly was unfamiliar with the OT rules. Just based on body language, I think he is kicking himself pretty hard for how he handled the last 5 minutes of regulation. If this means we stop playing Chan levels of conservatism with a lead, then we might get into the playoffs at some point in his tenure.

Suspect Key is going to come into his own on game management next year (after 2.5 years of getting familiar with the decision making seat). I think he will self-scout and then leave no stone unturned getting ready for next year. O'Leary will also likely be texting him pop quizzes at odd times over the off-season.

Frankly, that’s inexcusable
They got told and instructed each year on rules changes
The rules are explained at the start of overtime too

Look, Key’s done a good job, especially taking a program that clown had steered into a ditch
But even as an assistant for 20 plus years, some of the game and clock management issues are stuff he should have been paying attention to over the years
I can scratch my head at more than a few of our play calls last night, but that comes with the territory
Clock and game management issues shouldn’t be happening now two full years into this

I think he may be our next Dodd or Johnson, long term.
I fear that even if that’s best for us (and I think it is), that either incompetent administrations or cheap fans will prevent it. Trying not to be that cynical, but that’s tough as a Tech fan who has seen a lot.

I think Key is going to be a very good coach at GT. I hope he learned one lesson last night … in the last minute of regulation Key or Buster played scared and was basically going to try and win it in OT. You can’t play scared … do you think UGA would have done that? Hopefully lesson learned.

The best coaches work the refs for a reason. Brent will earn that credibility and he’ll need to use it to get his best results.

When we got the ball back in regulation with 1 min left, we ran HK first play and burned half that time up pointlessly, we should have been passing to get into field-goal range immediately

Our defense was so gassed and our punter blows so much, if we went 3 and out we would have lost right there. I disagree.

Exactly, the coaches were afraid of a turnover. The way our offense was moving we could have gotten in FG range but our coaches froze up a little.

You are right, they were SCARED of a 3 & out. In a game like that especially on the road you’ve got to go for the gusto. Besides … how many 3 and outs did we have during the game? You got to play to win, not play not to lose.

I think he’s building up a big student following. And old alums like a guy who actually loves Tech. Fitzgerald gave NW a discount and was still very well paid by the end of his tenure. The donations will come to support him if he beats UGA.

I don't think the prevent defense was a bad call. We got the ball back up 7 with under 6 minutes to go. There was no reason to think we wouldn't have been able to at least get to the 2 minute warning before we punted or tried a FG.
