Brohm staying at Purdue

We’re not going to be able to hire a current P5 head coach is all.
We can hire anybody who actually wants to be here. There's no single line item at the GTAA that has a bigger revenue generating effect than HC. If there's any place you don't skimp, it's on FB HC. Now, we can't throw so much money at a candidate who doesn't want to be here that the money outweighs all his other reasons for not wanting to be here – but nor should we. For anybody who wants to be here, though... he won't have any concerns about not getting paid enough.

No one wants to be here enough to turn down $6M at their current school if we can only offer $3.5

He’ll, I wouldn’t want to be here that bad. Anyone that would take that deal is a moron and thus should be disqualified regardless.

I don't think we're communicating clearly. And it doesn't matter.

Can we afford a 6 million salary? Honestly curious. We seemed to be scrimping by with a fraction of the support staff.

I don't think we need to spend that much to get a competitive coach. But in the grand scheme of the GTAA's budget, an extra million or whatever per year for the "right" HC is an easy investment to make. The point is that there's no reason to think an extra million or whatever per year is needed... there are plenty of apparently "right" coaches available at our expected salary levels.
