I wasn’t nearly as disappointed as some of my fellow Tech fans were about the 16-9 egg we laid against Virginia last night.

Now that the clown show is gone, and with a new AD and head coach, if I’m a pro style HS quarterback stud looking for immediate playing time while being coached by Chris Weinke… I’m giving Tech a long look.

So we should sign at least 2, move Sims to WR for his senior year, have Brent Key as HC make all world lineman (his position during the Joe Hamilton days) his recruiting priority.

And in the meantime, hire a savvy NIL VP to the AA, and start poaching 4-star benchwarmers from Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, FSU, etc. via the transfer portal.

Where would you rather be while receiving your six-figure handout… Atlanta, the number 10 DMA media market with its requisite nightlife… or Auburn/Clemson tipping cows…albeit in the latter case tipping cows into Lake Hartwell?

The NIL/transfer portal game is brand new. Learn to play the system or be a victim of it…

I’m more bullish than ever.

I'm glad your optimistic, and the bright side is, once you're dead and in the seventh lair of hell, which is where we are currently, anything seems better.

What that doesn't mean though is that we're wanting to settle for the 1st through 6th lairs either. We need to scrub this entire experiment and start over. Mold has a way of spreading back over everything if you don't kill it all.

Enough parallels for you. We have a new AD, now it's time to get a new HC, let him bring in all his new assistants, let them recruit they're own players, and see where we're at in 3 years.

The best part is all this can happen without spending 15 million on a guaranteed contract. Make the whole payout performance based, with heavy bonuses for results. If I suck at my job nobody is gonna keep sending a check.

Burn it all down, what's left anyway and start over. Do it now, not 12 months, now.

Why the öööö would any one be actively looking to get coached by Weinke?
Can anyone closer to the program give us some insight into Weinke's coaching? I would think having a Heisman winner on staff would be a huge recruiting boon but more important could take a kid and coach him up. I saw glimmers that Sims was improving in route reading but would have expected more from the mental toughness side.

The coaches currently here won’t be here next year.

Winning a Heisman doesn’t mean the guy is going to be a good coach. I’ll take really good teacher who’s a proven coach over anything else.

You should be. UVA is one of the worst teams that I've seen over the last several years and GT is worse.

Weinke won't be here next season, nor will anyone else currently on staff.

Where was Key's "recruiting priorities" the last 3 seasons + ? The unit he was responsible for until about 3 weeks or so ago is the worst one on the team.

Bless your heart if you really think that GT is going to be a player in the new world of the NIL.

Let's hope that Batt is a miracle worker and Cabrera continues to provide support for athletics. Good news is that it can't get much worse at this point.

The *only* place to go in FB and MBB from here is up. They're literally worst in the conference at both right now until Sims ankle is healed.

We'll know how up to snuff J Batt is in a real hurry. He's got 40 days to complete a new FB hire before taking a break for 4 months and then needing to go through another major hire in the other revenue sport.

This feels like the early 1980’s
Back then we were seriously considering dropping down a level or two
I feel like we’re going to have to get real lucky now
Maybe this is the beginning of a new era of below mediocre football and zero relevance
I hope not but I’m not encouraged

This. To not have at least an AVERAGE o-line in year 4 is an indictment of Key and the reason why he should not have a shot to become HC.
If we get steamrolled in every game left, that’s an indictment of Key as an OL coach. Still isn’t clear how much Collins had his thumb on each unit. OL seemed to make progress the last two games. 5 more games to evaluate, and we don’t have to buy him out if it doesn’t work.

We’re not gonna win öööö until we start paying OLinemen and a decent quarterback to come play here. I don’t know why our fanbase continues to keep theirs heads in the sand. Pay some bad öööööööööööös to come play here. It’s not illegal anymore, that’s why NIL exists.

Some dude I talked to during the game last night said that Long has said that Collins would never let him call the plays he wanted to call. It appears in watching the games under Key thus far that Collins exercised a lot of veto power over all his assistants, most notably Thacker. That being said though, from what I have seen thus far without the cancer called Collins running everything, even now, being allowed (I assume) to call the offensive plays he wants to call, Long still sucks as an OC. His play calling, mainly, but not limited to, plays in the red zone defies all reason.

Beginning? This is year 4 of it.

New coach can be a good one and still take a few years to improve things.
