BUT, the coaches say U.S.C. is no. 2 and

UGA lost to Tennesee and SC. USC lost to Stanford. UGA as much as I hate to admit it, deserves the #2 ranking.

By those standards, Ohio State deserves the #2 slot. They lost to LSU and Illinois.

They probably do deserve the #2 spot, based on the whole season, if LSU is #1. It isn't like last year where they obviously didn't belong on the same field as Florida.

It took a miracle gift from Vandy for UGA to win, and you won't find a game where USC was manhandled. UT manhandled UGA. Who else in the top teams was totally dominated in a loss?

And as mentioned USC lost when their QB was out. Both finished strong.

IMHO, USC would mop the floor with UGA. I don't think you will find more then a handful of neutral knowledgeable football fans who disagree.

I haven't looked at postseason personnel losses yet so i don't hazard a guess on 2008 #1 preseason. But LSU is probably lucky that USC didn't get a shot at them.

UGA will be good in 2008. Bank on it. But to think that they were the best team, or even second best in 2007 takes a UGA/SEC homer.

Who cares if UGA is #2? As if that's some kinda moral victory. :laugher:

I guess we should have threw a parade for bein #2 in basketball a few years ago.
