Butker going to NFL

Sonuva bitch...right before my yearly review too. There goes most of my raise.

Bears need a kicker. Make it so.

8-8 from 40+ last year, damn that's good. His stats are funky though.

0-0 <20 (interesting that we never kicked a FG from inside the 3 in all 4 years. Wonder if we ever have under CPJ? 208-210 in XPs though)
10-10 from 20-29 (100%)
12-22 from 30-39 (54.5%)
17-21 from 40-49 (81%)
4-7 from >50 (57.1%)

So he had a better conversion percentage from 50+ than he did from 30-39. That's crazy. 71.7% for his career. Not bad. Money from 40-49. Overall that % seems low for an NFL kicker although 15-17 in his last year is solid and the leg strength probably makes up for some of that in the scouts' eyes. Rooting for him!

One of the best kickers in the nation, for sure. He was money on long kicks and seemed to fix his consistency issues that he had early in his career (resulting in the lack of accuracy on shorter kicks).

Obligatory:

Wonder if he has the leg for the NFL. I don't know if he converted on any kicks longer than "The Kick." NFL kickers are expected to be good out to 60. He definitely showcased the necessary accuracy by his Senior year. Was solid all year long.

Real talk...he will be a long shot, but hopefully he makes a camp as an UDFA. He wont be drafted. If he gets some kicks in the preseason and performs well there, then you never know.

:lol2:...wut?

Define good from 60.

His kickoffs indicate to me he has the leg strength. Accuracy inside 50 is what is so impressive among NFL kickers - they hit an incredibly high percentage.

NFL kickers are expected to be able to make FGs from 18 (shortest possible) out to 60 yards. Butker's career long is 53 yards and it cleared by a foot. NFL kickers routinely make kicks 50-55 yards. Matt Bryant of the Falcons, as a local example, made a 59 yarder this year and he is over 40. He made 6 FGs from 50+ in 2016 alone. Could Butker do that? Maybe...haven't seen it.

I used English. Thought it was clear.

Only a few are what most coaches would call reliable from 50+ let alone approaching 60.

He made a 54 yarder against Kentucky before the half, IIRC

I just came here to post this after watching WreckEm's highlight video. If you still think he doesn't have a pro leg after watching that kick (1:35 mark), you cray-cray.

Real talk.

Kid definitely has the leg. And he's getting better. I think he's going to be a star.

I'll be telling my grand kids about this kick one day. My seats were ten rows up directly in line with the goal line in that end zone on the UGA side of the field. I had a perfect view of the ball as it just sailed over the crossbar and lost my shit in a sea of idiots. Goosebumps thinking about it again.
