Butler wins it for KC

The bad call had no effect on the final score.
Twasn't a bad call. He grabbed the back of the receiver's jersey. Textbook call. Don't want to see that call at the end of the game? Simple. Then don't grab jerseys. And that twat Olsen with his incessant "let them play" . . . grabbing a receiver's jersey as he's running away from you isn't "playing" - it's holding. I know, we should let DBs just flat out tackle receivers in the final three minutes . . . to "let them play."

And this might be the most ST thread ever. The Butler did it on the Field with the Shoe. Or was it Professor Plum in the Solarium with the Candlestick?

Dear Harrison,

So happy for you and your success in the NFL and kicking the game winner tonight in the Superbowl for the Kansas City Chiefs. BUT... for me, your kick tonight pales in comparison to your loooong kick that tied the mutts at Sanford and Sons Stadium, allowing Our Beloved Yellow Jackets to win the game in OT! The Kick and The Pick!

Go Jackets and God bless!

Just being objective here, Butker was not been himself down the stretch since coming back from injury. Glad he made that chip shot GWFG but he nearly missed an XP (it was razor thin close!) and also missed a routine 42 yarder earlier. I hope he fully recovers back to form in the offseason!

All it ended up was using time. Butker would have hit the FG anyway, it just would have been the Eagles having 1:30 left in the game after.

On a related note, I have always pointed out on the 4th down throw away againt UGAg by Reggie did NOT lose that game. We still had to score. There was no guarantee of that.

That's false. The Eagles would have actually had enough time to try to tie it. As it stood, they ended up with only 0:08 instead of something like 1:30 if there was no penalty.

I am happy Butker won it. I just hate that at such a crucial moment the refs made a borderline call that directly impacted the ending of the game. No one knows for certain if the actual outcome would have been different.

I read where the Eagles cornerback admitted it was a hold,,,,,
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Philadelphia Eagles fans might be miffed at the holding call on James Bradberry that essentially ended the drama in Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, but the corner admitted to committing the penalty after getting beat by JuJu Smith-Schuster. "It was a holding," he said following the Eagles' 38-35 loss.

..and so people have a reason to keep talking about the boring-ass NFL. Probably totally organic.

Technically speaking it was a hold. However, it was a very minor hold. Certainly not an egregious foul at that spot in that game.

Think of O-line holding... literally there is something that violates the rules as they are written probably every few plays... however the refs only call the egregious ones. I would have swallowed my whistle if it was me... but it is what it is.

Congrats to Harrison.

Curious, did you think the same thing when Gibson stepped out of bounds to end the game?

Another problem, and we were in coaching staff turmoil at the time, is we didn't seem to have a play. I really would have preferred the UVA "Hook and Lateral" play and just put our fastest players on the field (only a center and two guards) and try to Rugby it to the EZ

The worst calls of the game were totally correct by screwy NFL rules. The ruling that the crucial Philly fumble/KC TD return was an incomplete pass was bad but based on the stupid 3-step continuation rule the NFL has defining a receiver's possession. However, the crucial Philly "catch" at the sideline was barely even one step. As I said, totally correct calls by NFL rules, but horribly inconsistent and nonsensical... by NFL rules.

I didn't feel like it should be a fumble so the rule matches my intuition. One guy's opinion

These a mamma joke in here somewhere.

Back to the title ... I thought maybe Malcolm Butler had picked off Russell Wilson again, so I could point at Pete Carroll and go "ha ha."

As for the game, it was a hold. It should have been called. If it wasn't, Philly gets the ball with probably 1:50 left and one timeout and likely down 3. But judging by that atrocious last pass attempt by Hurts ... (yeah, I know he was not going to reach the end zone on that one. Still, that was really, really bad) ... who's to say Philly would have come close to getting within field goal range.

Anyhoo, Butker has a second ring.
Did anyone see the story with him and his thoughts on CBK on ajc.com? It's behind a paywall and I never saw it on the app.
